Putting your trust into a VPN means more than just expecting privacy and encryption of your connection. You want access to your VPN to continue for as long as you've paid for it - and if you've paid for a lifetime subscription, well, there's an expectation that it will be fulfilled.

While the best VPN providers don't offer lifetime deals, many smaller competitors do, mainly as a marketing strategy to build customer numbers, and perhaps one day compete with the top-tier VPNs. After all, they're dominating the market, whether through encryption, support for streaming, or offering VPNs for gaming.

In an announcement on its website, BulletVPN states that "this decision was made after careful consideration of various factors, including shifts in market demand, evolving technology requirements, and sustainability of operations."

BulletVPN's servers have been disabled, and this news, while sudden, is with immediate effect. That means that if you had a BulletVPN subscription, the client should have stopped working. It also means that you are no longer enjoying guaranteed encryption on your internet connection.

On the bright side, users with active subscriptions have the chance to enjoy a free 6-month subscription with competing VPN Windscribe, which can be extended into a discounted long-term plan, urging existing BulletVPN members to contact [email protected] if they're keen to accept the offer.

The closure of lifetime VPN provider BulletVPN so soon after the controversy surrounding VPN Secure's cancellation of lifetime plans might lead you to think that Windscribe has purchased BulletVPN. However, the announcement says otherwise, clearly stating: "Windscribe has not acquired BulletVPN or assumed control of any part of its operations. Furthermore, no user data—including email addresses or account information—has been shared with Windscribe."

Fortunately for BulletVPN's ex-customers, Windscribe is well-regarded as a VPN provider. However, if you're suddenly in the market for a VPN, opting for a reliable provider like NordVPN should ensure you're not caught out by a sudden closure.
