New Diablo 4 patch notes boost experience gains and buff all six classes

New Diablo 4 patch notes have arrived, and there's some good news for anyone enjoying the Sins of the Horadrim update. Diablo 4 Season 9 might not be a dramatic leap forward like its predecessor, but it's proven a very robust installment nevertheless. It's about to get more rewarding, however, thanks to update 2.3.1, which makes its experience-boosting motes more valuable, smooths out the endgame progression a touch, and delivers buffs across all six classes, with much-needed improvements to cheer up Barbarians in particular.

Diablo 4 patch notes 2.3.1 include a pretty wide selection of changes, including the aforementioned buffs to several Diablo 4 classes. Before we get to those, however, the improved experience and endgame adjustments are certainly worth discussing, especially as they'll impact all players. While it's worthy of a spot among our best RPGs, Diablo 4's levelling speed and endgame grind is a constant point of discussion, and both are being smoothed out and slightly sped up here.

The new experience motes found in 'Forgotten Wisdom' nightmare dungeons will now spawn slightly less often, but the cap on the number you can find in a single zone is "significantly increased," meaning you should find a lot more of them overall. They'll also grant extra experience for each one, and will split it across your current party members rather than only giving it to the player who picked it up, which should end any potential arguments.

Elsewhere in the endgame, clearing The Pit at tier 70 and above will now award bonus Artificer's Stones, effectively allowing you to run one of the most-used endgame activities as much as you want if you're able to push through the higher difficulty levels. Horadric Chests now offer more salvage materials and Forgotten Souls, and a similar bonus has been applied to Legion Events. That might make the latter finally worth returning too, which I'd be happy about; they're still one of the most fun open-world group activities.

Moving onto balance, the big winners are Barbarian, Sorcerer, and Necromancer. Barbs see damage increases to a wide range of skills, most significantly hitting Hammer of the Ancients and Upheaval, which are two of the most fun Barbarian builds to play for my money. For Necros, the multiplicative sacrifice bonus to Golem damage has been almost doubled, and Sorcs get some rather chunky increases to Meteor, Frozen Orb, and Avalanche damage.

Flurry Rogue builds, currently one of the class's more underwhelming options, might well become viable with boosts to both the Breakneck Bandit's Aspect and the Deathmask of Nirmitruq. Spiritborn also gets some respectable, albeit smaller, buffs for Stinger's Aspect of Pestilence, Payback, and Razor Wings. Finally, a serious damage increase for Druid's Pulverize is great news if you're as big a fan of relentlessly slamming stuff as I am.

Elsewhere, Blizzard has fixed the exploit for infinite Obducite, and the Butcher will correctly drop loot when you defeat him. The Equipment Delve channeling in dungeons has been sped up and won't be interrupted if you're hit, and the Myriad Stone Horadric Jewel now grants additional temporary attack speed that stacks with other sources, making it a more worthwhile inclusion.
