Giant Frostpunk 2 mods contest awards $10,000 if you transform the city builder

Frostpunk 2 mods already provide dozens of essential tools for improving and expanding 11bit's grueling city-building game. Take 'Deeper Deposits' by 'ImSamhel,' or the ongoing 'Political Overhaul' project from 'Hevi,' which introduces more laws, parties, and functions to Frostpunk 2's bureaucracy system. Like Cities Skylines 2, Civilization 7, Manor Lords, and the other titans of the building and strategy genre, FP2 needs a vibrant modding community to thrive. In recognition of that, 11bit has just launched a gigantic new competition where the greatest Frostpunk 2 mod creators can win a $10,000 top prize or one of several AMD Radeon RX 7700 GPUs.

So, what is 11bit trying to find? Well, it's not just new mods - even existing Frostpunk 2 mods and those made for earlier versions of the game will be considered. In terms of restrictions, mods with "inappropriate content" will not be accepted, but apart from that, it's open season. Maybe your mod adds new mechanics, or a tougher, nastier difficulty mode. Custom stories and quest lines are also acceptable, as are mods that transform the visuals, or that turn the entire experience upside down - if you're not already convinced that Frostpunk 2 is one of the best city-building games, mod in some flying cars and dragons and see if that helps.

"You are the strategy genre experts, and we would like to see what you will come up with to make the Frostpunk 2 experience even more interesting," 11bit says. "Creativity, playability, and most importantly, fun." The studio will select five winners across five categories. The winners for best graphics, best politics, best city mechanics, and best frostland mechanics mods will each receive a custom AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT 12GB GPU. Whoever earns the top honor of best overall mod will take home $10,000.

All you have to do is upload your mod to mod.io and mark it with the hashtag '#fp2modcontest' to enter. After that, a jury of 11bit developers, mod.io representatives, and experienced Frostpunk 2 modders will review the entries and choose a victor. The Frostpunk 2 mod competition runs from today, Friday July 11, to Friday August 22, and the winner will be announced on Monday September 1.
