If you've never played Rimworld, it's a hybrid and monstrous mix of sandbox games, spontaneous stories, and tough survival, fueled by warped twists and turns. Set in the outer fringes of space, where chaos breeds even more chaos, Ludeon's colony sim is already endlessly replayable, and now it's gotten even bigger with the new Odyssey DLC. If you want to give it a shot, even though it's only just been released you can already get Rimworld Odyssey at a big discount.
Inspired by Dwarf Fortress, Rimworld is one of the best management games, hands down. Combine it with the best RimWorld mods and some of the previous DLC packs like the horror-themed Anomaly, which adds blood rain, psychic powers, and an evil machine god, and it becomes one of the most imaginative and expansive games on PC today.
The gravship is the main selling point of the Odyssey DLC as it implements what fans have wanted for years: a better way to travel, with no more unnecessary walking. You can't leave the planet in a gravship, but you can explore orbital debris which opens up new areas. Obtaining the gravship is no easy task, though, as you'll need to research and unlock different tech tiers. You'll also need resources like an engine, a bunch of gravlite panels, chem fuel tanks, and thrusters.
There's a ton of new quests in Odyssey, too. From tracking mythical beasts across biomes to discovering ancient bunkers, the expansion adds hours of new material. You'll encounter hidden ruins, asteroid mines, and insect-infested settlements. These bug-filled areas caught me off guard; I seriously wasn't expecting spiders and hive queens. Missions arise from scattered clues from old maps and local hearsay, and you'll receive some great loot for completing quests, from weapons to tech.
All of this is just some of the new material that the Rimworld Odyssey DLC offers. To find out more, head over to Fanatical and purchase it for $21.74/£17.39, via an amazing 13% discount. We don't know how long this deal will stick around, so fly on over.
