You can kick back and relax when it comes to the Stardew Valley system requirements, which demand about as much from your hardware as it does from you. Just about any PC or laptop that still draws breath should be able to get you up and running in this legendary pixel farming sim.

Stardew Valley certainly doesn't require anything close to the best graphics card from our buying guide. So long as your computer turns on, you have a pretty good shot at getting stuck into rural farming, romance, mining, and more in one of the best relaxing games of all time. Even after numerous free updates, the developer ConcernedApe has kept the requirements lean, so much so that it barely takes up any storage space.

Here are the Stardew Valley system requirements in 2025:

Windows SteamOS + Linux
OS Windows 10 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
CPU A 2GHz CPU or greater, such as the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 A 2GHz CPU or greater, such as the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
RAM 2GB 2GB
GPU A graphics card with at least 256MB of memory and Shader Model 3.0 support A graphics card with at least 256MB of memory and OpenGL 2 support
Storage 500MB 500MB

The actual Stardew Valley minimum requirements don't specify any particular Nvidia, AMD, or Intel hardware, stating that you'll only need a GPU with 256MB of VRAM like the Nvidia GeForce 8400GS, a CPU with 2Ghz clockspeed or greater such as the 2008 Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, and 2GB of RAM. These specs are so easy to meet, that just about any laptop, PC, and even mobile phone will meet the game's demands.

Stardew Valley doesn't even have official recommended specs, as the game runs smoothly even on the minimum requirements, so long as you have a modern Windows or Linux OS. There aren't even any in-game settings for you to adjust to improve performance, and they aren't needed.

Of course, if you do start installing Stardew Valley mods like the Stardew Valley Baldur's Gate 3 mod to reshape the world as you see fit, you'll start to put more strain on your system. Even then, it is unlikely that you'll push the game past the capability of any modern gaming rig.

As for storage, the Stardew Valley download size only requires 500MB of space, though the installation files will expand to fill up nearly 660MB of space post-install. You won't need the best gaming SSD for Stardew Valley, though the game's overall file size could balloon depending on what mods you install.
