Water is the source of all life, particularly when you're stranded on an island full of Pals. While you won't die of thirst in Pocketpair's survival RPG, it won't be long before you have a bountiful plot of land desperate for a drop of water. That's where Watering Pals come in.

Watering Pals are essential for growing and producing Palworld food, whether that's sustaining Palworld Wheat or powering the Mill. They're also required to run the Crusher, which outputs the Palworld Paldium Fragments necessary to craft Pal Spheres at your Palworld base. The best Palworld Watering Pals have the movement speed necessary to juggle all of these workstations and ensure seamless automation.

The best Watering Pal in Palworld is Shaolong, an endgame dragon type found in the World Tree. 

You won't even set eyes on a Shaolong until you reach the endgame of Palworld, but if you're looking for the best of the best, then there you have it. Given this dragon Pal is arguably one of the best at fighting as well, you may want to snag a couple if you get the chance - one for the base, one for the party. It can be boosted to level 10 watering quite easily with books.

Best focused Watering Pal

Unsurprisingly, the best focused Watering Pal is Shaolong - but given the number of Palworld Pals that only boast Watering work suitability, you're pretty much spoiled for choice. If you're not ready to grab yourself a Jormuntide just yet, Azurobe or Broncherry Aqua are excellent alternatives, and much easier to acquire.

Best multi-discipline Watering Pal

If you prefer to live off meat rather than crops, then you might find your Watering Pals are standing idle a bit too often. Penking is likely your best candidate with work suitability spanning Transporting, Mining, Cooling, and Handiwork alongside Watering. While these all sit at a fairly low level, it makes Penking a jack of all trades but a master of none, and a perfect candidate for any Palworld jobs that need doing.

Best early game Watering Pal

Pengullet is the best Watering Pal to assign to your base in the early game. Its proximity to the Palworld starter area makes it an easy catch, and its additional Handiwork, Transporting, and Cooling work suitability means it can help out with item management and crafting. However, as your Watering needs increase, you may want to switch Pengullet out for Watering Pals with higher work suitability in our tier list.
