The latest outing in the MH series has had a difficult beginning, plagued by performance and optimization issues, even if you meet the highest Monster Hunter Wilds system requirements. We've found a few ways you can mitigate these issues, but you'll need some pretty decent hardware to compensate for the game's shortcomings.

While the game doesn't call for one of the best graphics cards on our buying guide, you'll certainly want to consider one if you want to run Monster Hunter Wilds at a decent frame rate. As mentioned, there are, even months down the line from the game's release, countless performance issues despite the overall PC requirements decreasing since launch. We've extensively tested the best Monster Hunter Wilds settings to try and avoid some of the common issues, but you'll still need a beefy gaming rig to get the most out of your hunt.

Here are the Monster Hunter Wilds system requirements:

The Monster Hunter Wilds minimum requirements are quite high, despite being slightly lower now than they were at launch. The difference is actually pretty minimal, bar the storage space demands. For now, the MH Wilds requirements state that you'll need an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT GPU (down from a GTX 1660 Super and RX 5600 XT) paired with either an Intel Core i5-10400, a Core i3-12100, or an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU.

You'll also need 16GB of RAM if you want to set out on your first hunt in this massive open-world RPG, but you won't get more than 30fps at an upscaled 720p on the "Lowest" graphics preset with this level of hardware.

Meanwhile, the Monster Hunter Wilds recommended specs are seriously concerning, because not only are they quite high, but it's suggested you'll only get 60fps at 1080p with frame generation and the "Medium" graphics preset. These recommended specs, which won't even get the game running at its best, call for an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super or an AMD Radeon RX 6600 graphics card.

For your CPU, Capcom states that the recommended processors are identical to the minimum requirements. This is quite atypical of system requirements, especially given that Capcom is yet to release an MH Wilds ultra spec bracket, and hints at a worrying reliance on upscaling in game development.

The Monster Hunter Wilds download size currently sits at 75GB on one of the best gaming SSDs, a reduction of 65GB from the originally required 140GB of space. You will, however, require an additional 19GB of space if you decide to download the optional High Resolution Texture Pack and the latest updates.
