Total War Warhammer 3 update buffs infantry and summons in colossal patch notes

New Total War Warhammer 3 patch notes have arrived for Creative Assembly's mighty strategy game, and the developer has brought a colossal round of unit balance changes in the wake of its recent magic items overhaul. With long-neglected factions including Slaanesh and Norsca getting fresh attention in the upcoming Tides of Torment DLC, CA is attempting to spruce up the overall pace of its game, with some specific changes to Domination alongside a long list of more general rebalancing.

Total War Warhammer 3 patch 6.2.2 delivers a wide spread of changes reaching into almost every corner of the roster. The comprehensive strategy spin remains one of our best Warhammer games, bringing together its past two entries to create one of the most all-encompassing ways to get your fix of Orcs, Dwarfs, Beastmen, and Chaos Gods alike. Hot on the heels of TWW3 6.2's magic items overhaul, CA's new update turns its focus to units, with many changes to recruitment costs alongside adjustments to stats.

While there are too many individual changes to even consider listing them all, there are a few key points to highlight. In the Domination mode specifically, CA has boosted the ability of elite infantry units to contest for the point compared to their lesser companions. This should make them feel like a more worthwhile investment and mitigate the potential for one side to overwhelm the point with cheap unit spam.

Across the wider game, on-foot characters now have a minimum amount of 'knockback ignore chance' to 40% across the board, which will mostly impact lighter units such as wizards that had lower values. This should raise the odds that they'll be able to stay on their feet when attacked by larger foes, letting them more reliably continue to fight (but also meaning they'll still be kept in the fray).

Many summons have been given notably longer durations, meaning they'll stick around on the battlefield for longer. There are also a smaller range of item and spell tweaks; in particular, CA highlights the Pavane of Slaanesh, which it says has been "consistently overperforming in all multiplayer contexts and needed a much tougher hand." It now applies in two separate phases, first dealing damage over time and draining vigor, and then following that up with a rampage effect, forcing the target to attack nearby enemies at random.
