In the wake of an AI overhaul, Gmail has gained another impressive feature that might slash away at that glaring red number looming over your mail app.

Announced this week, the company's new "manage subscriptions" feature collates a user's subscription-based emails into a single tab, providing a simple, streamlined view of every newsletter, marketing promotion, or daily deal that flies into your inbox.

When in "manage subscription" view, users will see emails organized not by recency, but by frequency, with the most active subscription lists at the top of the inbox. A number next to each subscription indicates just how many emails the address has sent — Gmail users can tap on the sender to view every email or use the click to unsubscribe button (the small mail logo next to an email) to ask to be removed.

Apple's iOS 18 unveiled a similarly streamlined new look for Apple Mail in 2024, which included automatic sorting of promotional emails into their own designation "Promotions" tab — making it easier to spot and cull all of that subscription spam.

To access "manage subscription" view, tap the navigation bar (three lines) in the top-left corner of the app, scroll down to the bottom of the menu, and click "manage subscriptions." Google's new feature is now available on web, Android, and iOS devices in select countries.
