Who are The Outer Worlds 2 companions? There are six new companions coming to The Outer Worlds 2, that's six new characters to disappoint by choosing the wrong option. Like with the first game, these companions can join your party and serve you in combat as well as having their own fully fleshed out backstory and personality.
The Outer Worlds 2 release date is fast approaching, and we're busy planning which companions we're going to recruit this October. So far, it looks like you can have two The Outer Worlds 2 companions join your crew exploring, but similar to the first RPG game, all companions can be found and recruited throughout the world.
Though we don't know where you'll be able to find each character yet, we expect they'll appear in a specific location. We do know that they'll belong to a faction, and this could dictate how and where you find them in the story. Each companion has their own questline and provides perks to the party that could be useful on your adventure.
What you say and do can also influence the story and relationship with your companion. Obsidian said at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 that there's "reactivity in the game based on how you've been treating your companions", and that we'll find out at the end of the game how our actions towards our companions have consequences.
The Outer Worlds 2 companions are:
- Niles
- Val
- Marisol
- Aza
- Inez
- Tristan
Niles
Niles is also an Earth Directorate agent and is looking for help on whether to become a better agent, or turn his back on his faction. Obsidian has said that we will be able to influence each companion's story through our choices, so this looks like it could be a fun one to shape.
Val
We don't know much about Val, except that she's Niles' automech support drone and can also be recruited. It's unclear why we can't recruit Val alongside Niles, but we're sure that will become clear, as well as the perks she can offer the group.
Marisol
Marisol is an assassin and a part of the Order of the Ascendant, she has been described as a deadly mathematician with unfinished business. It sounds like she could provide useful perks in combat and navigating the world.
Aza
Aza is a violent cultist and definitely one of the more dangerous companions you can bring on board. She's involved in a sub-faction that worships The Rifts, and you can either lead her away from a life of violence or help her to kill people—tough choice.
Inez
A combat medic who survived Auntie's Choice human experiments, where animal parts were grafted onto humans. She's hoping you can help fix her graft, among other things. Could the other things be revenge?
Tristan
Tristan is a Protectorate arbiter, described as "judge, jury, and executioner". He is a massive tank, with what looks like lasers or grenades strapped to his arm. In his quest, you can either help him judge criminals or show him what true justice looks like.
And that's it for The Outer Worlds 2 companions. If you've already planned which party members you're taking with you, try out some of the best open-world games and take a look at upcoming games we're looking forward to this year.
