Diablo 4 Season 9 has just begun, and it's a great time to dive into Blizzard's gargantuan ARPG. After some ups and downs, the Warcraft and Starcraft developer's latest update has the game in a good place, and you can currently grab both the base game and its expansion, Vessel of Hatred, at a lower price than they've ever been before on Steam. You'll need to move fast, however, as there's just over one day to snag this saving.

The new Diablo 4 season delves back into the Horadrim, one of the main factions in its story. Long-time players might find it a little by-the-books mechanically, but that's because Blizzard has found a formula that works, and as a new player you'll be in a perfect position to take advantage of all the tuning and updates we've had since launch. Its campaign remains a highlight, with Lauren scoring it the elusive 10/10 and then following that up with a similarly effusive Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred review.

Even among competition from heavy hitters such as Path of Exile 2, Diablo 4 holds a very worthy spot among our best RPGs, and it's certainly the most immediately approachable of its ilk. Start now, and you'll have an even better time working through the story than you would have back at launch, and if you make it to the endgame you'll be able to take advantage of the newly introduced Horadric Spells system, which lets you craft your own custom abilities to complement our best Diablo 4 builds.

Blizzard has also rolled out its latest loot overhaul with Season 9; with gear in a pretty good place these days, its most recent change is an increase to the quality of drops you'll find as you crank up the difficulty levels. That means you're encouraged to see how much challenge you can handle, and will be rewarded for your success by finding upgrades more frequently. If you've been on the fence, the current Steam sale is a good time to take the plunge.

Diablo 4 and Vessel of Hatred are 50% off on Steam until Thursday July 10 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST / 7pm CEST. You'll pay $24.99 / £20.99 for the base game and $19.99 / £17.49 for the expansion, or can get the pair in a bundle for $41.99 / £35.99 to save a little more. Grab it here while you can, and you'll have plenty of time to work through the story before its next DLC, which is expected in 2026.
