Dealing with one ruthless Prime Asset in The Outlast Trials is already a challenge, but the co-op survival horror's latest addition will seriously put players through their paces. Developer Red Barrels has revealed that sadistic twins Otto and Arora Kress will arrive with Season 4: Project Diarchy, and they'll be nearly impossible to hide from.

According to Red Barrels, the Kress twins comprise "the most difficult Prime Asset" added to The Outlast Trials to date - and that's saying something when Mother Goose, one of the creepiest horror game villains, is lurking about.

Made up of one-time politician Otto and his deadly chemist sister Arora, the Kress twins are a force to be reckoned with. Since their mother was exposed to toxic chemicals while Otto and Arora were still in the womb, the siblings are conjoined back to back, meaning they have a 360-degree line of sight, which makes it almost impossible to hide. If you do manage it, you'll need to make sure you're not caught off guard by Arora's ranged, chemical flasks. Her attacks are designed to draw you out of hiding, putting you right in the way of Otto's lethal chainsaw.

Alongside the addition of this new Prime Asset is a new Trial Environment, The Shopping Mall, which is suitably decorated for one of Otto's political rallies. Unfortunately, it's a VIP-only invite, so these wealthy elitists will be less-than-pleased to see your poor butt there.

There's not long to wait until you can prove your worth against the Cress twins. The Outlast Trials Season 4 release date is confirmed for Tuesday July 15. In addition to this new environment and Prime Asset, we can also look forward to a new Trial, MK-Challenges, routine therapies, the reintroduction of the Rebirth system, and more.

That's sure to keep us busy until the highly anticipated Halloween update, coming this fall. In the meantime, even after more than 57,000 player reviews, The Outlast Trials still has a 93% positive rating on Steam, and is on sale until Thursday July 10. If you want to pick it up, it's $15.99 / £13.40, and you can get it here.
