Following Summer Game Fest, Gothic Remake is the standout new release in June 2026
Every year, Summer Game Fest, E3, or whatever it is called at the time, is the highlight of June's gaming news. All of the big publishers come together to show off what new games they'll be releasing this year and next. It's an exciting time, giving everyone a chance to get hyped about what's coming soon. Guild Wars 3, Resident Evil Veronica, and Final Fantasy 7 Revelation are just some of the highlights that were revealed during the week of showcases this year, and we can't wait to get our hands on them.

That doesn't mean June is always devoid of actual releases, though, and June 2026 is no different. There are a handful of great new games you can pick up this month. The highlight of the month is the release of Gothic Remake on June 5. Developed by Alkimia Interactive, it's a massive remake of the 2001 game. The action role-playing game boasts modernized controls, more welcoming tutorial features, an expanded inventory management system, and more reliable dodging.
If you played the original, you'll also be happy to hear that the combat system isn't as clunky as it used to be, either. While movement is still limited at times, you can now use minor magic attacks while moving around the world. Action isn't as stop-start as it was in the 2001 game, making it feel a lot more like other modern ARPGs. You can pick it up on PC now, including on G2A.COM. The platform, which is used by 35 million people worldwide, allows you to buy games, gift cards, subscriptions, and more from a selection of sellers, all of which have been verified as trustworthy.

You'll also be able to buy June 2026's other big new release, which is Square Enix's The Adventures of Elliott: Millennium Tales. Another action RPG, the game is developed by Team Asano, who also created the Octopath Traveler series. The two games share similar art styles, boasting gorgeous modern pixel graphics. However, instead of being a turn-based RPG, it's more like the Legend of Zelda series, with faster-paced combat and puzzle-solving. As a brand new series for Square Enix, we're intrigued to see whether The Adventures of Elliott reaches the same level of quality as their other recent titles.
Now is also the perfect time to pick up last month's best games, which are some of the highest-rated games released so far this year. First of all, there's Forza Horizon 6, which takes the series to Japan for the first time. Much like the previous open-world adventures, the sixth game lets you explore the tight city streets, open fields, and beautiful mountain passes that make up the world's map.
Forza Horizon 6 is one of the highest-rated racing games of all time, hitting record player count numbers for the series on Steam. Japan is also a setting that fans have been asking for for years. Who doesn't want to race through roads lined with the country's iconic cherry blossom trees?

The other big recent release is IO Interactive's 007: First Light, which sees the return of James Bond to the world of video games. In this globetrotting adventure, you play as James Bond as a brand-new agent. You see him recruited to the service for the first time, learn the mysterious ways of MI6, try to pass the brutal training sessions, and head out for his first missions.
While it's predominantly a linear action game, First Light takes a lot of what IO's Hitman games do so well and implements it seamlessly. Between all of the car chases, shootouts, and flirting you'd expect from a Bond game, you'll need to use your wits to infiltrate bases, find clues, and work out the best way to get the job done. It's a masterclass in storytelling and level design, and is one of the best James Bond games of all time.
We'll inevitably get another Forza Horizon game before too long, but First Light also seems like the perfect debut for a potential long-running franchise. Having been successful at launch, don't be surprised to see IO make more 007 games in the next few years.
Whether you want to relive the early 2000s with Gothic Remake, head to the streets of Japan in Forza Horizon 6, or jump into James Bond's shoes for his first-ever mission, there are plenty of games worth picking up in June 2026, and they're all available for purchase on G2A.COM.
