World of Tanks' new collab adds iconic FPS hero to the fray

While once upon a time I believed that World of Tanks was a hyper-realistic military simulator, I've discovered over the years that it's anything but. Since I started at PCGamesN it's crossed over with Warhammer 40k, tank sport anime Girls und Panzer, and the historical TV show Vikings. Actor Vinnie Jones even quit his job as Santa's chief enforcer to join the game (yes, that one is 100% real). The crossovers haven't slowed down, either, because now some old-school videogame legends are joining the fray: Duke Nukem and Lara Croft.

Both Croft and Nukem are coming to World of Tanks as part of the imminent Battle Pass Special: Heroes' Paths. The limited-time event will have a chapter for both characters, each packed with cosmetics and rewards. Lara Croft voice actor Keeley Hawes is even reprising her role, alongside the forever-iconic Jon St. John for Duke Nukem.

You'll have 30 stages for the Tomb Raider chapter and 40 for Duke Nukem's, with both offering up plenty of unlocks. There's themed 2D styles, decals, emblems, and even Lara Croft and Duke Nukem crew members.

Once you get to the end of each Improved Rewards track, though, you'll be able to pick up two premium vehicles themed around each character. Duke has the TS-6 US assault heavy tank, which includes laser machine guns and grenade launchers to really bring him to the forefront. It even sports a yellow and red paintjob, mirroring Duke's garish style.

Lara Croft, meanwhile, has the IMT US medium tank. This is meant to be a swifter, more accurate vehicle, and is fitted with plenty of her gear. It sports a winch, harpoon, cables, ropes, hatchet, and everything else the adventurer could ever need. It's even colored to look like her iconic blue top.

Wargaming is running the World of Tanks Battle Pass Special: Heroes' Paths from Thursday July 10 until Monday July 21, with chapters for Duke Nukem and Lara Croft.
