With the latest Dune Awakening patch, Funcom has finally made a much-requested change to how Landsraad rewards work. Going forward, you'll be able to hand in your contribution after one of these tasks is finished, and be rewarded based on your own efforts. Funcom's survival MMO is definitely one of most inventive around right now, and it's positive changes like this that'll keep it alive.

In Dune Awakening, the Landsraad is the council of Great Houses that impact all the players in every server of your world. Your guild's goal is to complete tasks on the Landsraad board, secure their votes, and take control to enact server-wide changes. You can complete plenty of PvE and PvP tasks to help your group's work with the Landsraad, and you get rewards in one of the best MMOs around right now for doing so.

That said, the Landsraad system has had some problems since launch. Creative director Joel Bylos penned a letter the community back in June, specifically addressing Landsraad. Bylos admitted that plenty of the activities boil down to item hand-ins and crafting requests, but notes that this is because "the system is in the earliest launchable iteration." They added that Funcom is also looking into the inability to hand in items once a square is completed, alongside how quickly these can be turned in.

Now, with patch 1.1.15.0, Landsraad missions are improving. Funcom says it has "Changed Landsraad tasks to allow for Kill and Delivery Contribution to happen after the task has been completed but awarding only personal contribution. (i.e., which faction won and how many guild votes were awarded are unaffected by contributions made after the task was completed by one faction)."

This means individual players will net rewards for contributing to Landsraad tasks, even when it's completed. Before now, huge guilds would quickly complete these tasks, which left smaller groups out in the cold. This is because rewards are given out based on your own personal contribution, and if a task's completed fast your efforts would mean very little.

This change appears to be a welcome one. "This Landsraad change was a requested game-changer that was addressed very soon that immediately makes the endgame more interesting. Devs are doing an amazing job. Can't wait to see the state of the game in one year," one player writes on the game's subreddit. "Landsraad change (fix, tbh) is the biggest cool thing. Now people can sit in Hagga and still get lots of rewards," another adds.

Dune Awakening patch Landsraad changes

Funcom hasn't just altered how Landsraad tasks work in this patch, however, as the team continues to make Deep Desert changes. For starters, you can now collect Tier 6 resources across wider areas in the PvE part of the area. Deep Desert unique loot containers now also have an "element of randomization" to their respawn timers, and there's "a chance of a different selection of uniques drop in PvE loot in Deep Desert" as well.
