All Minecraft mobs in 26.1 and beyond
All Minecraft mobs in 26.1 and beyond
How many Minecraft mobs are there? Short for 'mobile', Minecraft mobs are the creatures that can be found around the sandbox game, be they hostile or friendly. As of Minecraft 26.1, there are now over 80 unique mobs in vanilla Minecraft.
If that's not enough for you, even more can be added with some of the best Minecraft mods, but we're purely talking about the vanilla base game here. With that in mind, we've listed every single mob in the survival game, where they can be found, and whether they're passive, hostile, or neutral. You can also read more about mob variants in Minecraft and catch up on the newest arrivals to the overworld.
Here are all the Minecraft mobs:

The next Minecraft update introduces the sulfur cave biome, which features a brand-new mob: the Sulfur Cube. The Sulfur Cube can absorb blocks, changing the way it interacts with the world. You can choose what items are absorbed by the Sulfur Cube to discover the range of properties it can take on.
If the Sulfur Cube absorbs an ice block, it will slide around the ground, whereas absorbing metal will weigh the block down, causing it to move slower. Check out this interesting new mob before it arrives in the base game by trying out the latest Minecraft snapshot.

All Minecraft mob types
There are three types of Minecraft mobs:
- Passive
- Neutral
- Hostile
Passive mobs never attack the player, and many even run away when attacked. Hostile mobs, meanwhile, will attack without provocation.
Neutral mobs are those that don't attack unless provoked. For example, if a player hits a wild wolf, it will attack. Similarly, llamas spit when they or their wandering trader is attacked, and Iron Golems protect their villagers, attacking anyone who hits one.
Many passive mobs can be tamed and bred, and we've got separate guides on many of the mobs below that detail these mechanics and more.

Other Minecraft mobs
There are plenty of easter eggs in the form of special mobs that you should seek out - all you need are some name tags and an anvil. Check out VIPmanYT's video above to discover all of the secret name tag mobs in Minecraft.
Jeb
Name any sheep 'Jeb_' using a name tag to magically change its color on rotation, sweeping beautifully between 16 colors. Keep in mind that the sheep will only drop its original color when sheared.
Dinnerbone
Applying the name 'Dinnerbone' to a name tag and giving it to any mob turns that mob upside down. It will continue to act as normal, just on its head.
Toast
Toast is a cute and harmless reskin, turning any rabbit into a black and white bunny, an homage to the real Toast on Reddit, and implemented by former Mojang developer, Ryan Holtz. Rename a name tag to 'Toast' and give it to your favorite bunny to instantly change its appearance.
Johnny
Naming a Vindicator 'Johnny' causes it to become hostile to all other mobs except fellow illagers, not just the player. This easter egg is a reference to the axe-wielding lead character from The Shining.
Killer Bunny
Unfortunately, this one requires a Minecraft command, meaning cheats must be on. For the Monty Python-inspired killer rabbit to spawn, you must use the command '/summon rabbit ~ ~ ~ {RabbitType:99}' in the text box on Java edition.
Upon summoning the mob, a white rabbit with red eyes appears, sporting the name tag 'The Killer Bunny.' This deceptively cute creature openly attacks players, foxes, and wolves, dealing a whopping eight damage on normal difficulty.
