Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 3 will give its best new feature another useful upgrade, introducing the ability to swap equipment and item loadouts without having to head back into your tent. The launch of Monster Hunter Wilds TU2 has been met with a mixed response; while the RPG's PC performance has improved for some, many players say they're still unable to play with a satisfactory balance of image quality and frame rate. The new additions, however, are fantastic, including two tremendously satisfying fights against Lagiacrus and Seregios, layered weapons, and the aforementioned camp item box.

The open-world nature of Monster Hunter Wilds transforms how you approach hunts; while the map is still effectively broken up into distinct regions, much like its predecessor, you can jump from fight to fight with minimal downtime. That makes the new item boxes outside tents at camp, introduced with Title Update 2, a real godsend. You can quickly craft and restock your potions, buffs, and such without the need to waste time ducking into the tent and out again. With how many hours I've plowed into one of our best RPGs this year already, that adds up to a huge time saving, and it's set to get another big upgrade with the introduction of loadouts.

"In addition to restocking your items, we also originally intended for this feature to allow hunters to change their equipment outside of the tent," Capcom explains. However, testing showed that this inclusion "increased the risk of unintended issues occurring," so the feature didn't make it into TU2. The good news is that the ability to do this is still on the cards.

"Instead, in Free Title Update 3 planned for late September, we plan to expand the functionality of item boxes outside of the tent," Capcom continues. This will be handled via a 'view loadouts' option that will allow you to swap between your various saved presets for equipment, alongside those for radial menu settings and item sets, using the external boxes.

Capcom Guild Report: "Request: Add a way to restock items without entering the tent. Improvements: - Added item boxes outside of the hunter's tent in each base camp and the Grand Hub. - Added a "Camp Item Box" as a camp gear option that can be set at Pop-up Camps. Planned Improvements: In Free Title Update 2, we have implemented an accessible Item Box outside of the tent. In addition to restocking your items, we also originally intended for this feature to allow hunters to change their equipment outside of the tent. However, changing equipment resulted in unintended issues. After testing, we found that adding the feature to freely change equipment increased the risk of unintended issues occurring, so we decided against implementation. Instead, in Free Title Update 3 planned in late September, we plan to expand the functionality of item boxes outside of the tent. A "View Loadouts" option will be added, allowing Equipment Loadouts, Radial Menu Loadouts, and Item Loadouts to be changed using item boxes placed outside of the tent."

As someone who uses all 14 of the Monster Hunter Wilds weapons and loves swapping between them with each hunt to keep things feeling fresh, I'm very happy for this change. Title Update 3 has a lot more to prove, though; MH Wilds' Steam reviews still sit at 'overwhelmingly negative' thanks to the ongoing performance problems, and Capcom will want to win back the favor of its audience before it gets to talking about the seemingly inevitable 'master rank' expansion the series is known for.
