New Fortnite map - All Chapter 7 Season 2 locations

What does the new Fortnite map look like? If you take weekly breaks between sessions of Fortnite, you'll come to find that the map changes frequently. From POIs being swapped in and out to the entire map being replaced - if you aren't keeping up to date with all the updates, it can be difficult to identify what has actually changed.

Since the battle royale game is constantly in flux, the map, POIs, and information in this guide all change throughout each chapter and season. This also goes for the many Fortnite weapons and Fortnite NPCs across the map, and we'll update each of these guides to reflect those changes, too. For now, here's the current Fortnite map alongside descriptions of each named location and everything new in Chapter 7.

As of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2, Squibbly Shores, New Sanctuary, Dark Dominion, and Frigid Fortress have been added to the map, replacing Bumpy Bay, Classified Canyon, Lethal Labs, and Clawsy Lodge, respectively.

The theme of the season is the showdown between The Foundation and the Ice King. The north of the map, now known as Frigid Fortress, is covered in ice and run by the king. New Sanctuary is controlled by The Foundation, expanding the desert area of the map.

A lot of the locations from Season 1 remain, including Wonkeeland, which made its debut for the start of Chapter 7. You'll find the snowy biome in the north of the map, with deserts dotted around the east. Improved loot can be found in various places around the map in each match, noted by the blue hue to the location's name.

The current Fortnite named locations are:

  • Wonkeeland
  • Latte Landing
  • Painted Palms
  • Builder's Barracks
  • Sandy Strip
  • Fore Fields
  • Humble Hills
  • Sus Studios
  • Ripped Tides
  • Battlewood Boulevard
  • Frigid Fortress
  • Dark Dominion
  • New Sanctuary
  • Squibbly Shores

Wonkeeland

Wonkeeland, a theme park celebrating the ever-smiling mascot, is located in the top left corner of the map. Like any good theme park, Wonkeeland features plenty of mini-games that reward you with incredible loot. You should be careful in this area, as this is a perfect spot for lurkers to score easy kills on any unsuspecting prize hunters.

Latte Landing

Situated by the coast is Latte Landing, a coffee-themed area sporting several Big Shots stores. It's particularly frosty in Latte Landing, with its below-zero temperature freezing over the lake, providing a nice surface to slide across.

Painted Palms

Painted Palms is a prime destination for casual players looking to avoid confrontation at the beginning of a match. This film set is filled with plenty of buildings and trailers supplied by Sus Studios, making this the perfect spot for anyone hoping to evade rival squads in the distance.

Builder's Barracks

One of the newer additions to the Fortnite map, Builder's Barracks is a treasure trove for longtime fans, featuring multiple references to the Save the World game mode, including Lars' Van and a giant metal llama. You'll need to stay alert as some buildings in the barracks contain multiple floors, making it a prime spot for ambushes.

Sandy Strip

The Sandy Strip is home to multiple real-world location knock-offs, most notably Las Vegas' The Sphere, which is referred to as The Shape in Fortnite. You can't miss The Shape as it constantly stares at you regardless of where you are on the map. This is a popular destination for competitive players looking to brawl straight away, so watch out if you land here first.

Fore Fields

In our experience, Fore Fields might be the main location on the map that doesn't have swarms of players looking to drop here immediately. This golf course only has a few buildings to hide in, with the bulk of the area featuring little to no cover. Prioritize this area if you're hoping to avoid players while you get setup with all the loot in the main buildings.

Humble Hills

Humble Hills is the type of place you'd expect millionaires to live, containing some of the nicest homes Fortnite has to offer, alongside plenty of loot if you do enough searching. That said, there are better places to land if you're looking to get into a fight right away.

Sus Studios

Just like Painted Palms, Sus Studios is a film studio located south of the map. There are several large buildings that are closed off to prying eyes, giving close-range weapon experts the perfect spot to trap their opponents.

Ripped Tides

Ripped Tides is a small coastal town located towards the southeast side of the map. In addition to numerous buildings that are connected to a long road, the most eye-catching area has to be the skate park. This location features a puzzle involving steaks and weights that gives you the chance to earn a mythic drop right away, making it a popular spot for experienced players.

Battlewood Boulevard

The largest city on the map and certainly one of the most competitive, Battlewood Boulevard is crammed with buildings, just as you'd expect from a Hollywood-themed zone. There's a lot of verticality to contend with in this area, so keep an eye out for snipers resting on rooftops.

Frigid Fortress

Fortnite players have seen variations of a frozen kingdom on the map for years now, but Frigid Fortress may take the crown as the best we've ever seen. The Ice King and his henchmen can spawn in this location; be careful, as they will easily wipe you out if you aren't prepared.

Dark Dominion

Lethal Lab has now become the Dark Dominion, the base belonging to the Dark Voyager. If you walk towards the anti-grav shard at the center of the POI, you will automatically gain anti-gravity properties, allowing you to leap through the air. There's a full underground tunnel system in the Dark Dominion, which you can use to your advantage if the storm lands here in the final moments of the game.

New Sanctuary

The home of The Foundation, New Sanctuary isn't as impressive as its dark counterpart, but it can be one of the best places to drop if you know how to open the vault to unlock game-defining loot. Though this zone may look sparse on the surface, there are buildings that lead to a huge underground lair, including the glowing structure in the middle of the area.

Squibbly Shores

Located towards the east is Squibbly Shores, a quaint coastal town with a lighthouse and plenty of water to swim in. There's an anti-grav shard located between the main area and the lighthouse, making it easy to get around once you come in contact with it.

That's what the Fortnite map as of Chapter 7 Season 2 looks like right now, and we'll add to this guide as it changes throughout the season. If you're looking for something a little more blocky, there's always Lego Fortnite.
