Fresh retail data from one German retail source suggests that gamers have little interest in 8GB models of new GPUs, with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB model outselling the lower capacity model by as much as 16:1. This gap widens when looking at the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT, where the 16GB model is outselling the 8GB model at a ratio of almost 30:1, but with fewer cards sold overall.

While both of these budget GPUs occupy our list of the best graphics cards, with both fighting for the attention of gamers looking to spend less than $500 on a new GPU. We specifically recommend the 16GB VRAM models over those with just 8GB. Now, it seems as though gamers are also favoring the higher VRAM capacities, and it's not hard to see why.

In our RTX 5060 Ti review, we make a case for the 16GB model arguably being better than the RTX 5070 thanks to its higher VRAM capacity and incredibly reasonable price. Compare this to our RTX 5060 review, where the biggest drawback is its limited 8GB VRAM, and you'll start to understand why 16GB models are proving more popular in this isolated set of retail data.

The data in question comes from German retailer Mindfactory, and it shows that the top 10 selling RTX 5060 Ti and RX 9060 XT graphics cards are all 16GB models, and by a healthy distance too.

The best-selling graphics card is the Palit RTX 5060 Ti Infinity 3 16GB with 840 sales, followed by the MSI RTX 5060 TI Ventus 2x OC Plus 16GB with 450 sales. Three RX 9060 XT cards follow with 290, 220, and 190 sales, respectively.

In total, as of July 2, 2025, Mindfactory reports that it sold 1,675 total RTX 5060 Ti 16GB graphics cards, compared to just 105 sales of 8GB cards based on the same GPU. On the AMD front, it reports 885 sales of 16GB cards compared to just 30 8GB sales.

This data, however, is far from being a snapshot of the entire market, primarily because this data is from one retailer in one country. Beyond this, Mindfactory is also a PC tech retailer, meaning its audience is more likely to be clued up to the advantages of a 16GB VRAM model as opposed to those buying their graphics cards from Amazon.

It will be interesting to see if more retailers come forward or start displaying data to show how sales of 8GB cards are performing versus the 16GB alternative. However, given that stock still isn't readily available for the suggested MSRP in regions like the US, gamers may be holding off on purchasing until prices are closer to this figure.
