Wipes are par for the course in Escape From Tarkov. At some point, you'll lose everything, get cast back down to square one, and face the challenge of climbing your way out of the gutter all over again. Now, Battlestate Games is about to make survival and crafting tougher across the board. As Escape From Tarkov 1.0 and the Steam launch loom, BSG outlines precisely what will change with the new hardcore wipe.

For starters, the Escape From Tarkov flea market is going to be disabled in hardcore. In typical EFT, the flea market is a player-driven store filled with items for sale, and a huge part of the experience that helps you get ready for whatever raid you're going on next. But in the hardcore wipe, it's completely gone. One of the best FPS games for people who like a challenge, cutting off access to the flea market is bound to make Tarkov more of an uphill battle, as the only way to procure new items will be to fight for them directly.

Hideout functionality is also going to change. Item crafting requirements are going up, which means you'll need larger numbers of raw materials before you can build ammo and other gear in your Hideout.

To partly balance out the closure of the flea market, however, the construction of new Hideout Zones will no longer strictly require found-in-raid items. In a normal game of Tarkov, you can only make new  Hideout Zones using items you recover during a raid (which are then marked as 'found in raid'), but for the hardcore wipe, this will be changed. You will have to contend with limited Hideout ammo crafts, however.

Battlestate Games also says there will be a "reduced spawn chance of rare loot." This has caused a little confusion across the playerbase -  but BSG's lead community manager, Daniel Mavlyuberdinov, has detailed exactly what it means.

"Just to clarify a little, it will not affect whole loot but rather how good weapon mods, ammo and other stuff was easily available," Mavlyuberdinov says. "And also not to be as excessive as current marked rooms. Finding Ledx should be something really worth the raid."

Battlestate Games says it will reveal more about the EFT hardcore wipe soon, which is currently slated to be released in July. With the Escape From Tarkov 1.0 release date still set for this year, it's an important time for the shooter.
