It's almost time to shrink down again and dive into the picturesque, if terrifying, Brookhollow park, but only if your PC can overcome the Grounded 2 system requirements. This co-op survival adventure introduces a number of new mechanics, an overhaul to the skill system, and new customization and base-building options, all of which result in a fairly chunky game that older or budget PCs may struggle to run.
Compared to the original game, Grounded 2 calls for significantly stronger hardware, challenging any device that met the first game's recommended specs. Fortunately, you won't need the best graphics card or processor to get the game running, but you will need to make sure you have at least 16GB of RAM.
Here are the Grounded 2 system requirements:
Minimum | Recommended | |
OS | Windows 10 or later | |
GPU | Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 AMD Radeon RX 5700 Intel Arc A580 |
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT |
CPU | AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Intel Core i5-8400 |
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Intel Core i7-10700K |
RAM | 16GB | |
Storage | 40GB |
The Grounded 2 minimum requirements are actually pretty low in comparison to many of the best PC games released in 2025. According to Obsidian, you can get the game running on an old mid-range GPU, such as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700, along with an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 CPU, and 16GB of RAM. The RAM demand is double that of the first game, but it's cheap and easy to add more memory to your rig, and you can check out our guide to the best gaming RAM to find a kit that will suit your needs.
As for the Grounded 2 recommended specs, that's where we see a big jump in hardware demands. You'll need an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT GPU, which were high-end options a few years ago, an Intel Core i7-10700K CPU, and 16GB of RAM to get the game running as Obsidian intends it. For modern gaming rigs, these specs won't present much of a problem, but fans of the original game might struggle to transition if their device is lagging behind.
Of course, compared to some of the best co-op games on the market, the Grounded 2 requirements aren't all that intimidating once you look past the surface demands, something you'll be expected to do when you tame your first spider mount.
Finally, the Grounded download size is 40GB, which is five times larger than the original game. Interestingly, Obsidian doesn't state that an SSD is a requirement, indicating that the game should run relatively well on an old hard drive. Either way, we recommend using an SSD in your system to reduce your in-game load times and improve your system's responsiveness. Check out our guide to buying the best gaming SSD to find the drive that best suits your needs and budget.
