Promising a brand-new adventure on an alien planet, replete with stunning scenery and terrifying beasties - you can read our Subnautica 2 early access impressions to learn more. Now that the Subnautica 2 release date has finally arrived, the big question remains: is Subnautica 2 on Game Pass?

Subnautica 2 is now available on PC and Xbox Game Pass. We don't know how long Subnautica 2 will spend on Game Pass, so enjoy it while it lasts.
Krafton says that bringing the game to multiple storefronts alongside Game Pass provides an "opportunity to be part of the development journey from the start." It's currently unconfirmed if Subnautica 2 will remain on Game Pass once it exits early access. The game will receive a price increase for its full launch, and it's unclear if this monetization strategy will impact its future on the service.
Unknown Worlds put out a Q&A session on YouTube in June 2025, reiterating that the early access version of the game is coming to Game Pass later this year. One month later, Krafton confirmed that Subnautica 2 has been delayed to 2026, stating that they will have more to show through dev blogs over the coming months. It also clarified that Subnautica 2 will not be launching in early access on PlayStation 5 because Sony doesn't support these types of preview programs.
Both the original Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero have spent time on the Game Pass games list over the years. As such, it's unsurprising that Subnautica 2 has also been made available during its early access period.
