No Pokemon on PC? Try this 86%-rated monster creator collector game on Indie Pass
No Pokemon on PC? Try this 86%-rated monster creator collector game on Indie Pass
The main barrier to entry with Pokemon is, of course, the Nintendo Switch. If you want to play any of Game Freak's classic creature catchers, you'll have to splash out the cash for both the games themselves and a new console every few years. It's a tough pill to swallow. We've seen a million and one pocket monster spinoffs, with Palworld going viral back in 2024. But Coromon, the latest addition to Indie Pass' ever-expanding roster of indie games, modernizes Nintendo's classic formula, adding a swathe of cool new mechanics for you to explore.
Coromon takes place in the world of Velua, brought to life by vibrant, pixel-esque graphics. You are a Battle Researcher for the esteemed Lux Solis society, but it isn't going smoothly. A mysterious foe has attacked your new workplace, and it's up to you to gather a party of Coromon and put a stop to their evil machinations.
There are over 100 Coromon to choose from, and you can even customize their colors (no running around for hours trying to find shinies). You catch them, train them, then battle them, learning elemental combinations and using them against your enemies. While all of that sounds like the standard Pokemon fare, Coromon adds stamina into the mix, meaning that every action costs energy. You'll need to keep an eye on your combos to ensure that your Coromon don't tire out, which adds fun, extra layer to the classic battle system.
If you're looking for a more casual experience, you can drop the difficulty down to easy to keep things chill. If you're feeling a little more daring, however, there are the Randomizer and Nuzlocke modes. The former does what it says on the tin, but the latter makes the game much harder - if you've ever Nuzlocked any for the Pokemon games, you'll know exactly what you're getting into.
Boasting an 86%-rating on Steam and a dedicated community, now's the perfect time to kickstart your Velua journey. Back in March, TRAGsoft dropped the colossal Coromon: Remastered update, celebrating the game's four-year anniversary. It completely overhauls the UI, reworks battle quick-actions, smooths things out with a new engine, and expands input support (hotkeys galore!).

Coromon is now available on Indie Pass, bringing one of the most iconic creature collecting RPGs to indie.io's new storefront. You can access Coromon, and other games like Dream Tactics and Tyrant's Blessing, with ease, cutting down on the faff of browsing a cluttered website. Indie Pass' curated selection also means that games won't be stuck in wishlist hell for the rest of time; these are games you want to play.
