The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Super specs just leaked, and they look loads better

A renowned tech leaker has just shared the rumored Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Super specs, and if they're accurate, this new gaming GPU looks like a much better option than the current RTX 5070. According to this new rumor, the new graphics card will not only have more VRAM than the existing RTX 5070, but unlike the rumored RTX 5080 Super, will also have some beefier GPU specs, with more CUDA cores at its disposal.

That's not to say the current $549 Nvidia GPU is bad, but in the testing for my GeForce RTX 5070 review, I found that the card would just fall over at some game settings, simply because it didn't have enough VRAM available. Meanwhile, the competing AMD Radeon RX 9070 is more expensive when it comes to real-world pricing, but is generally more powerful across the board, even if it can't cope with Doom The Dark Ages path tracing.

Here are the rumored RTX 5070 Super specifications:

This latest specs leak comes from regular, and often reliable, tech leaker kopite7kimi in a post on X (formerly Twitter). As such, bear in mind that Nvidia hasn't announced anything about this GPU officially, but kopite7kimi has fine form for Nvidia leaks, including nailing the RTX 5060 Ti, 5060, and 5050 specs months before their release.

Based on this leak, the new RTX 5070 Super looks as though it's set to use 3GB GDDR7 memory chips instead of the 2GB ones used in the current RTX 5070. This would enable Nvidia to increase the amount of memory from 12GB to 18GB without having to expand the width of the memory interface, which looks set to remain the same as the RTX 5070, at 192 bits wide. According to the leak, this RTX 5070 Super VRAM will also run at the same 28Gbps speed as the current 5070's memory, resulting in a total memory bandwidth of 672GB/s.

Unlike the rumored RTX 5080 Super, however, it looks as though the RTX 5070 Super is also going to get some more parts enabled under the hood. According to the leak, the RTX 5070 Super has 6,400 CUDA cores, rather than the 6,144 in the standard RTX 5070, which suggests it has 50 Nvidia Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs) enabled. If that's the case, it will also have 50 RT cores for ray tracing, and 200 Tensor cores for AI work, such as Nvidia DLSS.

With 18GB of VRAM at its disposal, the RTX 5070 Super would have even more memory than the pricier RTX 5080, as well as the 5070 Ti. While not all games require more than 12GB of VRAM, I found that the lack of memory on the RTX 5070 caused Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to saturate the memory and result in huge frame rate drops, when using its Full RT path tracing mode. With 18GB of memory, these problems will disappear.
