When you think of MOBAs, I'd wager that only a few industry titans come to mind. League of Legends, Dota 2, and to a lesser extent Heroes of the Storm have been dominating the genre for more than a decade. Other MOBAs have been and gone, but not many have had the same staying power as the holy trinity. That is, until Supervive. Theorycraft Games' own spin on the genre launched into Steam Early Access last year, and its unique blend of battle arenas and hero shooters has proven quite popular. With a 'very positive' rating from nearly 18,000 reviews on Steam, it could have what it takes to come up against LoL. Now, nearly a year after it first launched, the Supervive 1.0 release is finally almost here.

Unlike a lot of entries in our list of the best MOBAs, Theorycraft Games has built Supervive on more than just one genre. The game is filled with plenty of battle royale and hero shooter DNA, which turns the experience on its head.  You start by dropping into the map, at which point you need to gear up and take out your opponents. Then you've got plenty of League of Legends-adjacent skills to use, as the Fortnite-style storm ring inches ever closer. As Lauren notes in her Supervive preview from last year, it's "an exciting take on a genre that has largely grown stale."

With the Supervive release date now right around the corner, there's a lot to look forward to. For starters, Theorycraft Games CEO Joe Tung has a YouTube video planned for Thursday July 17. Here, they'll reveal the major changes to progression, the map, and game structure coming with 1.0.

If you've already been playing Supervive since early access started, you'll also get plenty of rewards. Anyone who's tried the game before 1.0 gets the Cartoon Carrot Wisp (Rooty) and Champion callsign, for one. If you've played for more than 40 hours, though, you'll get the original 'The OG' Glider and exclusive Theorycrafter title as well. The Supervive servers are going offline for pre-launch maintenance on July 17, but you'll earn an extra 200k EXP if you're a battlepass owner.

Theorycraft Games is launching Supervive 1.0 on Thursday July 24. You can play the game in Steam Early Access right now, just head here.
