Fortnite will still let you use accused murderer D4vd's cosmetics, but refunds are available
Fortnite has so many cosmetics now that it's impossible to keep track. There are countless other celebrities and characters to choose from, spanning from popular franchises like Star Wars to Fortnite's own characters, and real people such as Sabrina Carpenter and John Cena. Popular TikTok singer D4vd was one such honoree, who had a dance emote, two jam tracks, and a locker bundle based on his designs, music, and choreography. However, developer Epic Games is now accepting refunds on these cosmetics after the singer has been accused of murder.
Content warning: the following story discusses murder, child abuse, and pedophilia.
D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, has been charged with first-degree murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas, whose body was found in his abandoned Tesla a year after she went missing. His attorneys told NBC Los Angeles that they would "vigorously defend David's innocence," but prosecutors have found a "significant amount" of child sex abuse images on his iCloud account. Fortnite players are understandably requesting refunds on their cosmetic items.

The developer of the hit battle royale game has responded, telling players it "hear[s] the concerns," and making it clear that changes are on the way in light of the arrest.
The official Fortnite Status account wrote a response to 'ShiinaBR' on X to explain the issue. "We hear the concerns. We have a bunch of changes we're rolling out over time. The first one will be available on Tuesday April 28th, when anyone who purchased one of these items will be able to get an immediate self-service refund. And, right now, players who request refunds for D4vd cosmetics via player support can be refunded."
The D4vd emotes and songs can still be found on official Fortnite channels, like its YouTube account.

Some players don't think that this is a strong enough response. Previously, cosmetics have been removed from the game completely, such as the Peaceful Hips emote from Peacemaker and the Rue skin, due to perceived links to Nazism.
D4vd could face life imprisonment or the death penalty if found guilty.
