Escape From Tarkov Arena is free-to-play this weekend, just in time for its new season

Escape From Tarkov Arena Season 2 is finally here, bringing with it a new battle pass to whittle away at, new weapons to laser down your opponents (or allies if you're not paying attention) with, and a massive rebalancing of pretty much everything. To celebrate, developer Battlestate Games is removing the paywall this weekend, allowing you to take it for a free test spin. Should you get the Arena bug, there's a pretty hefty sale going on, too.

Escape From Tarkov Arena is a solid alternative to Tarkov proper, especially if extraction FPS games aren't really for you. It takes smaller chunks from the Tarkov maps, turning them into bite-sized battlegrounds that are considerably faster-paced, making for an interesting blend between Call of Duty's more claustrophobic, arcade-style arenas and Tarkov's gunplay. This also makes it the perfect training ground for Escape From Tarkov, particularly if your aim isn't quite as crisp as your macro.

With the arrival of Season 2, Arena has had a substantial revamp to system and gameplay balance. Everything from weapon progression to meta score limits, preset loadouts to weapon mods have been adjusted as per the patch notes. There are plenty of new additions and changes, too. The biggest by far is that Arena has moved to the Unity 6 engine, which Battlestate says has brought "improvements in physics behavior and general performance, while laying a strong base for future visual enhancements and faster content delivery."

Additionally, a slew of new equipment has been added, including weapons, mods, and a map called 'Factory,' which, unsurprisingly, is a cross-section of the map of the same name from Arena's bigger sibling. As such, this is also the perfect time to give Arena another shot if you've bounced off of it before.

According to Battlestate, the Escape From Tarkov Arena free weekend will kick off on Friday, April 24, 2026, lasting until Monday, April 27. If you don't have time to play, you can also snag some pretty sweet Twitch Drops during the same period by tuning into your favorite creators.

If you're left hankering for more Arena goodness by the time the weekend's up, you'll have until Sunday, May 3, to pick up the full game for 30% off. Additionally, if you're looking to really go all-out, you can get 25% off the Arena + Full Tactical Maps Bundle, granting you some extra battle pass-style reward tracks to hoover up cosmetic goodies from.
