Elden Ring generally forgoes all conventional storytelling practice for a more environmental affair; myths are told via item description, corpses talk of events past, and occasionally, a huge tumorous creature will monologue at you before proceeding to bash your head in.

Because of this, it's incredibly difficult to know just where the Elden Ring movie will go in terms of a narrative. Alex Garland has adapted other source material before, namely with 2018's Annihilation. Taking Annihilation as an example, it's clear that Garland isn't afraid to tinker with a story if he thinks it will suit the big screen better, and we can see this happening with Elden Ring.

Taking on the A-plot of Elden Ring would be an insurmountable feat. Cramming that much lore into a 2-hour affair would be incredibly messy, so we could see the Elden Ring movie taking a small slice of that world and immersing us in it.
