As DLC rumors swirl, grab Dragon's Dogma 2 at its lowest price yet, with a free game thrown in too

If you popped Monster Hunter, Dungeons & Dragons, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and a dash of Elden Ring into a blender, the twisted amalgamation would look just like Dragon's Dogma 2. However, that doesn't feel like a nice way to describe one of the best RPGs in my Steam library, and while the reviews remain mixed, it's still one I wholly recommend. As rumors of a DLC continue to spread like a forest fire, Dragon's Dogma 2 is at its lowest price ever, and that means you have no excuse now.

Dragon's Dogma 2 exists in that weird purgatory of solid 7/10 games - one read of our Dragon's Dogma 2 review will showcase exactly why. Glaring bugs, weird design choices, and some performance issues (many of which have been fixed since launch) make buying the RPG feel like a poor financial choice. However, it's also one of the most unique experiences I've ever played, and for that reason, it's worth playing alone.

If you can look past those relatively small problems, there's no game quite like it. You play as an Arisen, a custom character that has been marked by a dragon, and through the power of friendship (see: summoning), can make friends with Pawns, powerful companions that will join you on your adventure. There's your standard share of fantasy politics, as well as a narrative that doesn't always land too well, but it's mostly a vehicle for some top-tier gameplay.

The vocation system functions similarly to classes, allowing you to switch between a variety of skills and powers, and it does an excellent job of varying the gameplay. As you traverse the sprawling world, you'll fight all manner of creatures, some of which are larger than life and offer quite a challenge. Fortunately, in a Shadow of the Colossus-style approach, you can climb up these giant beasts, attacking weak points and bringing them down like David and Goliath. Battles never feel frustrating or unfair - they remain fun, yet intense hours after the start of your adventure.

With Steam database updates in the background and recent DLC teases, an expansion feels increasingly likely. So, why not catch up before it's probably released by grabbing Dragon's Dogma 2 for just $24.49 / £19.24 at Fanatical, a 65% discount and the lowest price it has ever been? You'll also score a free game, as any purchase over $15 on Fanatical right now will net you a choice out of a small selection of games:

  • Dynopunk
  • Beyond a Steel Sky
  • Cook Serve Forever
  • Suffer The Night
  • Soulstice
  • Cook Serve Delicious 3
  • Intravenous
  • Encodya
  • King of Dragon Pass
  • Golden Light
  • $1 Fanatical voucher
  • Mystery Game

So, grab your sword (or bow, or daggers, your choice) and go face a dragon in Dragon's Dogma 2. You'll either find it okay, or you'll find it a view-altering experience on what a good game can deliver. There's no in between.
