All Overwatch maps and game modes
What are all the Overwatch maps and game modes? We don't blame you for losing track of all the maps and game modes added to Blizzard's hero shooter since it launched; the game has been around for almost a decade now.
Just like the Overwatch characters, the maps in the multiplayer game span the globe, including one situated on the moon. There's also been a lot of chopping and changing with the game modes and what's currently available as you climb the Overwatch ranks, so our guide will help to make things clearer.

Before jumping into a match, players are presented with three Overwatch maps to pick from. Each player casts a vote on the map they want to play on, each vote increasing the odds that it's selected. As of Season 2, any map that receives six or more votes will always be selected. If you want to practice on a specific map, you can create a custom game, but you're limited to playing with your friends.
There are currently 29 Overwatch maps playable across Unranked and Competitive, with more being added throughout the year. Stadium has one additional game mode, Clash, pushing its total to 31 maps. Arcade features more maps than the ones we've listed below, but we haven't included them as they're comparatively smaller than the ones in the real list.
Escort
Escort sees the attacking team attempt to push a payload cart towards three checkpoints spread across the map. To push the payload, at least one player has to stand next to the cart The defending team is given 45 seconds at the beginning of the match to establish their positions. Attackers have four minutes to reach the first checkpoint, earning an additional two and a half minutes if they succeed.
Here are all the Escort maps in Overwatch:
- Dorado
- Havana
- Junkertown
- Circuit Royal
- Rialto
- Shambali Monastery
- Watchpoint: Gibraltar
- Route 66
Shambali Monastery
Shambali Monastery serves as the only safe haven for displaced Omnics, sequestered in the Himalayas far from human civilization. At one point or another, it's served as the home for Zenyatta, Genji, and Ramattra, among many other synthetic fugitives fleeing the Omnic Crisis. The Escort mission will take players along its winding paths, following in the footsteps of the Omnics before you.
Circuit Royal, Monte Carlo
Set in Monte Carlo, Circuit Royal is available in Escort mode. As the sun sets, players can duke it out among the many poker tables and lavish hotels, with an F1 track running through the map. Teams must escort the Turbotron race car through the narrow roads to win.
Control
Teams fight to control the objective point in the middle of the map. Every Control map is split into three symmetrical segments, with each round taking place in a different part of the stage. The victor is declared once a team has captured two objectives.
Here are all the Control maps in Overwatch:
- Antarctic Peninsula
- Ilios
- Lijiang Tower
- Nepal
- Oasis
- Busan
- Samoa
Antarctica Peninsula
The Antarctica Peninsula was removed from the map pool, but was reintroduced in Overwatch Season 2 after being reworked. This frosty landscape is the research base of peerless climatologist and enduring optimist Mei, and features a stunning aurora australis and free-roaming penguins. PCGamesN sat down with level designer Trey Spisak to talk about Antarctica Peninsula and what we might expect from this latest iteration of the control formula.
Hybrid
Hybrid starts off with the attacking team needing to capture a point in the first part of the map. If the attacking team is successful, the mode transitions to the Escort mode, as the attacking team attempts to push a payload across the map. In Competitive, the game is split into two rounds, giving each team a chance to both attack and defend. If both teams manage to complete the objective, the game goes to a sudden death state where time bank rules are applied, rewarding the team that managed to accomplish the objective fastest with extra time.
Here are all the Hybrid maps in Overwatch:
- Blizzard World
- King's Row
- Midtown
- Numbani
- Paraiso
- Eichenwalde
- Hollywood
Midtown
Midtown, New York is available in Hybrid mode. Its roads run through and below Midtown Station and across the iconic Grand Central Station. The streets are littered with police cars and yellow taxis and the map features a pizza restaurant, mini market, laundrette, various coffee and DIY shops, a swanky hotel, and construction sites. The main attraction is the fire station, where you need to escort a fire truck through Midtown to win.
Paraiso, Rio de Janeiro
The Brazilian Paraiso map is a colorful Hybrid map where players have to push the payload through the winding streets of Rio de Janeiro. Blizzard says that it's their largest map to date, and it's certainly one of the most colorful on offer. Teams will have to be careful while moving through this map if you find yourselves too spread out, even the best Overwatch support heroes may struggle to keep everyone alive.
Push
Push places a robot in the middle of the map that teams must huddle around to gain control over it. When a team is near the robot, it will start to move closer to the opposing team's spawn area. Teams have eight minutes to push the robot to the end of the track, and if neither team can achieve this, the match is settled by the team that pushed the robot the furthest.
Here are all the Push maps in Overwatch:
- New Queen Street
- Colosseo
- Esperanca
- Runasapi
Colosseo, Rome
The Rome-based Colosseo map is available in the new Push mode, and as well as Rome's quaint, cobbled streets, you can also battle in and around the Colosseum. It's quite enclosed compared to other Overwatch 2 maps, with courtyard gardens and small cafes, so expect some gladiator-style fighting and exquisite architecture. The best Overwatch tank heroes are sure to help you stand your ground.
Esperança, Lisbon
The Esperança map, set in Lisbon, Portugal, is a Push map. It features long, open streets with some ideal sniper sight lines and plenty of indoor flanking routes that the best Overwatch DPS heroes can take full advantage of while escorting the Push robot around its winding streets and riverbanks.
New Queen Street, Toronto
Toronto's New Queen Street is available in the new Push mode. You can explore the subway and Union Station or take to the snowy streets and fight in one of the many cafes or restaurants, and trendy bars, including underground in the cute Egg House. Or, skip over the railway line to the Museum of Technology and the curling center.
Flashpoint
Similar to Control, teams fight for objectives called Flashpoints, with the first objective point always located in the middle of the map. Flashpoint features the largest symmetrical maps in the game, and unlike Control, the entire fight takes place on the same battlefield, forcing players to travel to each section after a team successfully takes a flashpoint. The flashpoints are picked at random, forcing players to adapt on the fly.
Here are all the Flashpoint maps in Overwatch:
- Suravasa
- New Junk City
- Aatlis
Clash
In Clash, teams battle on a symmetrical map filled with five objective points. Unlike Control, the objective points are instantly captured once players are on the point, adding 25 seconds to the timer as the map switches to a different objective point. The team that captures three objectives is declared the winner. Clash used to be part of the standard playlist, but it was removed due to player feedback. With the introduction of Stadium in 2025, it has since made a return, though it is exclusive to the MOBA-like mode.
Here are all the Clash maps in Overwatch:
- Throne of Anubis
- Hanaoka
Those are all the maps in Overwatch right now. While more maps are expected, in the meantime, check out our Overwatch tier list to find out whether newcomers such as Sierra and Emre are worth your time.
