How to get a ship in Windrose
How to get a ship in Windrose
How do you get a ship in Windrose? It isn't long in Windrose before you are forcefully removed from your vessel and left to rot on some deserted island - the aim for many, including us, was to find something seaworthy as soon as possible so we could exact sweet revenge.
Eventually, you'll most likely be using Windrose fast travel to get around the place, but until then, or for those who enjoy the grind of a long voyage, you'll need to get a ship as fast as possible. You'll have to find your land legs before your sea ones in Windrose, but thankfully, there aren't too many steps in between you and your vessel.
In fairness, it isn't that long until you're given a ship in Windrose; the only drawback is that it's little more than a rowboat, and wouldn't last two seconds in a fight with one of Blackbeard's men. To get a proper ship - a Ketch - there are a few missions you have to complete. They are:
- How My Shore Adventure Began
- I Need a Bigger Boat
- Rescuing the Crew
These three missions act as the de facto tutorial, each containing several steps, but will ultimately lead to you taking to the sea. Once those are done, you'll have a lovely new Ketch at your disposal.
You can upgrade your ship by building a Shipwright station, and you can also construct a Wharf to customize your ship's flag, sails, and hull color, as well as add important things like cannons and whatnot. Later on, you can purchase blueprints for ships like the Brig from Tortuga, although they are quite expensive and will require a lot of grinding.
Now that you know how to get a ship in Windrose, it really should be your only concern until you're seaworthy in the survival game. After that, it's up to you; follow the main quest or simply go hunting for treasure, it's all equally important in the life of a pirate.
