New Arc Raiders update sees yet another duplication glitch bite the dust

Arc Raiders is a game all about taking risks to loot, picking the right fights, and also knowing when to accept a run is cooked and make a beeline for Speranza. Tension is what makes a good extraction shooter tick, and while Embark Studios' multiplayer game is a lot friendlier now than it was at launch, many of those core tenets persist. However, from time to time, players have found loopholes to bypass this crucial element, cloning items rather than earning them the good ol' fashioned way. Embark's been able to patch these up fairly quickly, and today a new hotfix has been deployed squashing yet another duplication glitch.

The Arc Raiders 1.23.1 hotfix simply says that Embark has "fixed a duplication glitch." While it doesn't point to any particular example, there is chatter over on the official Discord server pertaining to a method involving hardware spoofing. I'm not going to get into specifics, obviously, but what I will say is duping has been a recurring issue for quite some time now, and it's pretty annoying seeing people running around with unlimited top-tier weapons and resources that they didn't earn the same way as the rest of us.

If a player can't build out a half-decent vault, that's a skill issue. I understand the lure of just being able to jump into a run and take fights without the fear of losing gear, but it's actively damaging the experience of those who have invested their time into getting good at everything Arc Raiders has to offer.

Hopefully, with today's hotfix, the current duping wave will come to an end. The same issue cropped up back in February, prompting a swift response after popular content creator 'TheBurntPeanut' began spamming an ungodly number of Trigger Nades on stream. This certainly won't be the last cloning method we see Embark tackle, so expect to see plenty more folks running around with inventories full of ducks going forward.

Yesterday's 1.23.0 patch saw Embark take a good stab at plenty more funny business that has been taking place on the Arc Raiders maps. Between finally putting an end to the Trigger Nades damage bug and concreting over a piece of flooring on Stella Montis that players could shoot through, the fixes are coming thick and fast. Embark needs to maintain the pace though, as there always seems to be another big problem just around the corner.
