Arc Raiders crafting just got much faster: "Your time matters, we don't want you spending it clicking through menus"

Crafting is an essential part of Arc Raiders. Gathering together the resources to make new weapons, more gear, and extra consumables is a rewarding part of the loop, but it can be unwieldy working back and forth through the menus to dismantle old, unwanted loot, then head to the resource trader for any missing pieces. Fortunately, Embark Studios has a solution. "Your time matters," it remarks, "and we don't want you spending it clicking through menus when you could be raiding."

The studio says, "One of the things we care most about as a development team is making sure every moment you spend in Arc Raiders feels purposeful. That's why we listen closely to what you tell us. And one piece of feedback kept coming up: 'I'm spending too much time crafting.'" It acknowledges that a lot of the frustration is in having to gather the missing materials needed for a craft, and that the "friction was getting in the way of the fun" as a result.

"You already knew where to get what you needed, maybe from recycling something you had lying around, or picking it up from Celeste, but jumping through multiple screens to actually do it was a pain point," Embark says. To solve that, and get you back into the action side of the multiplayer game as efficiently as possible, it's introduced "a streamlined way to acquire missing materials directly from the crafting screen."

Arc Raiders - A new menu to quickly acquire missing parts from any available source.

When you're in the workshop and attempting to craft something, but are missing any needed components, you'll now see a new 'Acquire Resources' button. Click this and you'll be shown a list of every available source you can get each required material from, whether that be through items in your inventory that can be recycled, from traders, or elsewhere.

"The key word here is 'available,'" Embark stresses. This doesn't guarantee that you'll always have access to everything you need at your fingertips, but it means that any potential solutions will be put right in front of you. "If a material is obtainable through your current options, you'll see it, and you can act on it immediately. No more hunting through menus. No more abandoning crafts out of frustration."

"We know this doesn't fix everything," the developer notes. "Streamlining crafting runs deeper than one button, and we're always looking at what comes next." It says it's continuing to investigate any potential "pain points" highlighted by the community and will decide which of them need tackling next.

"You can expect to see more soon," Embark concludes. "Thank you for continuing to share your feedback. It directly shapes what we prioritize and how we build. Keep it coming." Combine that with the recent Flashpoint update, which prioritizes putting you into fresh lobbies when you queue with a custom loadout, and it's clear Embark Studios is listening carefully to player concerns.
