8 Summer Bedding Trends That Will Keep You Cozy and Cool This Season

From performance linens to playful motifs and lazy bed-making routines, 2025 is all about embracing bedding trends that feel easy and look elevated. If you're hoping to design a soothing, sleep-friendly space, you won't want to miss our roundup of inspiration ahead. For the perfect bedroom refresh, take a peek at the most popular bedding trends set to be everywhere this summer.

  • Bryan Ginberg is the CEO of Doze, a company that specializes in easy-to-change duvet covers.
  • Jenny Reimold is an interior designer and content creator in the home and lifestyle space.
  • Ursula Carmona is a home and garden style expert and content creator.

1. Lazy Bed-Making Routines

Many of us continue to gravitate towards simplification in our daily routines—and that mindset spills over into our bed-making process, too. "Yes, we’re simplifying," says Bryan Ginberg, CEO of Doze. "One duvet, two shams, and one accent throw is our go-to summer setup," he adds. "Summer beds don’t need to be overbuilt to feel elevated. A crisp percale duvet and a textured throw go a long way."

"Clean and functional—something that’s easy to wash, quick to change, and still looks great," Ginberg says. "People want to sleep in a cleaner bed, but they don’t want the chore of washing and wrestling with their duvet every week. [They're] looking for designs that actually makes their lives easier, and finally, brands are starting to deliver."

2. Buttery Soft (and Breathable) Linens

Breathable, natural fabrics that feel light but still look elevated when styled are all the rage right now, says Jenny Reimold, interior designer & HomeGoods Featured Finder. Materials like percale cotton are "always a go-to," Reimold says. "It’s crisp, cool to the touch, and has that tailored look that photographs beautifully."

"Linen is another favorite, especially for coastal or organic-inspired spaces. A lot of people worry about linen wrinkling, but not all linen is created equal. If you opt for stonewashed or enzyme-washed varieties, the texture softens over time and the wrinkles take on more of a lived-in, effortless luxury vibe than anything messy," Reimold says.

And with this trend, synthetic materials—like polyester, microfiber, acrylic, nylon, and certain types of rayon—continue to take a backseat. Since these materials can be more prone to pilling, less eco-friendly, and more likely to trap heat (than allow airflow), many bedding experts encourage sustainable, breathable alternatives instead.

3. Hues Inspired by Nature

This summer, expect to see more soft, sun-washed colors, too, Reimold says. "Think: butter yellow, misty blue, and muted peach," she says. These shades feel warm, cheerful, and relaxed, which helps set the exact mood people want at home right now. Plus, calming neutrals like driftwood beige and soft sage will also be big this season, especially in coastal or nature-inspired interiors, explains Reimold.

"After a few years of loud, statement-making design, people are craving simplicity and comfort. They want their homes to feel like a peaceful escape, while still looking styled and thoughtful," she says.

4. Patterns and Playful Accents

You'll also notice pattern mixing gain more traction this year. "A striped ticking or buffalo check paired with a floral brings in that cozy cottage charm," says Ursula Carmona, home style expert and HomeGoods Featured Finder. Chinoiserie patterns, especially, are making a comeback "on dishes, planters, drapery—and now they’re showing up in bedding too," she says.

Details like scalloped edges or pom trims will also take centerstage in this year's bedding trends, each adding "a playful, layered feel," Carmona says. By mixing and matching these patterns, it's simple to pull your bedding look together with pieces that feel special, she adds, while still making practical choices that support a good night’s sleep.

5. More Textures

This summer, bedding trends will also embrace the ease of doing less—starting with textured fabrics meant to look lived-in and perfectly undone. "It’s that effortless look—like crinkled cotton, relaxed linen, or subtle seersucker—that feels casual but still pulled together," Carmona says. "The best part? It makes bed-making a breeze. You don’t have to fuss with perfectly smooth layers," she adds. No steaming or ironing required here!

6. Vacation-Inspired Essentials

With comfort at the forefront of this year's bedding trends, why not channel the most-loved parts of vacation and travel—without ever leaving home? Reimold explains how to get this look and feel at home by layering linen quilts, lightweight throws in breathable fabrics and any bedding essentials that feel cool to the touch but still look styled.

To get the look, use linen—which makes our list again thanks to its relaxed texture that never feels bulky, explains Reimold. For color, she recommends adding soft blue hues into your bedding mix, "which brings in a hint of coastal calm and pairs beautifully with neutrals," she says. This is how Reimold achieves an overall bedroom atmosphere that looks and feels lighter, softer, and more inviting— ideal for warm-weather living.

Much like hotel or resort-style bed-making, Reimold also recommends a higher pillow count to create a cozy, layered look—while doubling as back support for reading or lounging.

But achieving a vacation-style bedding setup doesn't need to break the bank, Carmona and Reimold explain. You can scout high-quality alternatives to luxe brands simply by prioritizing the right materials, fit and style for your sleeping needs.

7. Performance Bedding

This year, we're also seeing an increased demand for bedding essentials that look beautiful and deliver comfort, breathability, and durability. Enter: performance bedding. Sets with cooling, moisture-wicking, or wrinkle-resistant properties, “which look polished without the upkeep,” will be big this year, Reimold says.

For example, “Tencel blends—especially those mixed with cotton or modal—offer a silky feel with incredible breathability [without the real silk price tag],” Reimold explains. “Plus, they drape beautifully on the bed for a polished, hotel-style look.”

Linen-cotton blends and matelassé coverlets will also continue to rise in popularity in 2025, thanks to their breathability, soft texture, and easy care labels especially when pitted against pure linen, Reimold says.
