Netflix raises prices for subscriptions (again)

No, you aren't experiencing déjà vu. And no, you aren't accidentally reading a post from January 2025, which is the last time Netflix raised its prices.

Netflix is once again hiking the prices for its monthly streaming subscription service.

On Thursday, March 25, 2026, Netflix updated the "Plans and Pricing" page on its website and increased the subscription cost by $1 to $2 per month, depending on the plan. The price for a standard subscription is jumping from $17.99 per month to $19.99 per month. The standard subscription with ads is going from $7.99 to $8.99 per month. The Premium subscription, which includes 4K and extra simultaneous devices, has been raised from $24.99 to $26.99 per month.

The new prices go into effect immediately for new users. Netflix will update current subscribers about the price hike depending on their subscription's renewal date.

The price to add extra users outside of your household is also going up by $1 too. An extra user will now cost $7.99 on a plan with ads or $9.99 on a subscription tier without ads.

Netflix had more than 325 million subscribers at the end of 2025, so the streaming giant clearly isn't too concerned about losing customers over the price increase. This is the company's fifth price increase over the past six years.

While Netflix users aren't getting anything new with the increased pricing, the streamer has been increasingly moving into the live event broadcasting space over the past year. Netflix airs WWE Raw live every Monday night. Just last night, Netflix was the live broadcaster for the MLB opening game between the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants. In addition, Netflix is continuing its live combat sport events with the upcoming Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano MMA fight in May.

It's possible that Netflix is now viewing itself as a service more in line with other live sports streamers like ESPN+ and looking to charge likewise. Plans for ESPN+, which broadcasts WWE's monthly Premium Live Events, for example, start at $29.99 per month.
