Mysterious Arc Raiders Flashpoint trailer teases an electrifying new enemy that we may have seen before

I'm not necessarily a care bear. Nor am I bloodthirsty, or a rat for that matter. I'm not really sure I fit into any of the labels that the Arc Raiders fanbase has created to determine whether someone loves fighting or not. I'd say my excursions topside are mainly vibes-based. Well, as vibes-based as you can get when dealing with soulless robots and, sometimes, soulless people.

The Arc presence is sometimes an issue, especially if I'm running a free loadout. There's also still that element of panic when I come across one of the FPS game's most recent additions - the Shredder and the Firefly. They're both deadly and still relatively unknown, with the latter being the real issue here. But, it looks like I'm going to have to brace for a new flavor of pain with the Arc Raiders Flashpoint update.

A brief, seven-second teaser has been released for Flashpoint. It doesn't show a lot, but it does have me wishing I'd put more points into mobility. It appears as though we're getting a new Arc; one that shoots electricity and also possibly lasers? The short video has a raider running for their life while (unsuccessfully) dodging bolts and beams - that will be me, I expect.

The teaser was attached to a rather cryptic post that read "C0NTΔCT L0ST… M3LTΞD >>> [ team ] NΞVΞR RΞTURNΞD // signal.err VΔP0R1ZΞD // signal.err" then simply "Watch the sky." Brilliant, so it could be an airborne Arc with the capability of frying me from 20 feet away.

Users on Reddit were quick to point out that the beam particles looked similar to a concept Arc shown at around the nine-minute mark in the Evolution of Arc Raiders video above. It's called the Bishop and is slightly smaller than the Matriarch, but seemingly a lot more mobile. More importantly, it apparently has the ability to fire a large blue laser from its midsection.

Whatever it is, I'm not especially looking forward to losing loot to it, while also being excited to experience its sheer scale. The Shredder is a little thing, and while it lives up to its namesake, there's nothing quite like the spectacle of a hulking beast looming in the distance as you get jumped by a bunch of Raiders in waiting. The Flashpoint update comes out on Tuesday, 31 March - I'll see you topside, with any luck.
