New Valorant agent Miks is channeling pure sonic power, and he could be my next instalock

I'm honestly shocked I don't have tinnitus yet, considering how much music I listen to. I received multiple DMs from pals querying how the hell I'd managed to rack up so many minutes after posting my Spotify wrapped last year; I just love a good tune, innit. Well, new Valorant Controller Miks evidently feels the same way, and has gone one step further, to channel pure sound energy into his kit.

Hailing from Croatia, Miks has it all: a Brimmy stimmy, bleepy bloopy sound effects, and, most importantly, his character reveal video is scored by BUNT's excellent remix of Zedd's Clarity. I haven't felt much of anything since maximal EDM died, so this is surely a sign that Miks is going to be the agent for me in the FPS game. Admittedly, my Valorant hours have pretty much flatlined in recent times, but now I suddenly feel the urge to return to the server.

As for what Miks' kit entails, I've already alluded to Harmonize, which allows him to either apply a combat stim to both himself and an ally, or only to himself via alt-fire. Unlike Brimstone's stim, this one refreshes on kill, providing your top fragger the means to go absolutely wild mid-round. But this isn't the only way Miks can shake things up on the fly.

His next ability, M-pulse, is a versatile bit of thrown kit that can either heal your team or concuss enemies that enter its radius, depending on how you activate it. Waveform, Miks' smokes, operate in a very similar fashion to Clove's, albeit without the means to reactivate them. I suspect M-pulse will find more general use in pushing foes off of angles, but I can also imagine it being deployed to keep allies topped up while they're getting spammed in his smokes to great effect.

Finally, there's Miks' ultimate, Bassquake. With the clap of his hands, Miks emits a blast of sonic energy in a narrow cone, deafening, slowing, and knocking back all players hit. It's redolent of Breach's ult, albeit without the concussive properties. By the looks of things, Valorant's new kid on the block sits somewhere between Brimstone and Sage in terms of design. Riot has been drawing inspiration from older agents for its modern additions for a while now, so Miks' hybrid identity as a supportive Controller is very much par for the course.

Touching on Valorant's 29th agent, game designer Kevin Meier says in a presser: "Mik's gameplay is teamplay-first. From dropping smokes, to healing, and providing combat stim - players will often be focusing on their allies when making decisions. He's able to change the tempo as a round progresses, based on what his team needs. Harmonize is great when your team needs to take a site or space, and you want everyone to be more effective in combat. Miks is also able to keep the tempo during battle, or take advantage of downtime, by healing allies before their next engagements."

So, with Meier's quick tips locked in the dome, you're now primed to tear it up with Miks when he arrives on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, alongside Valorant Season 2026 Act 2. If you see him get instalocked, it's probably me… sorry (I'm not sorry).
