On the surface, Rematch might look like just another multiplayer online soccer game, but don't let that deceive you, oh no! Rematch has managed to carve out its own identity in a sea of similar soccer games, and it's currently 15% off over at Green Man Gaming.

It takes a basic player-versus-player style and sprinkles a bit of Rocket League magic onto it, making it fast-paced, chaotic, and lawless. This game is fun and addictive - the kind of thing you can't wait to start playing again when you get home from work. In the short time since its release, Rematch has tackled its way into our hearts and is giving the best soccer games a run for their money; hell, there's an argument to be made that it could be the best sports game out there.

There are three game modes: 5v5, 4v4, and 3v3. Simple right? Well, the usual rules of Soccer do not apply here. There are no fouls and no offside rules, and this shake-up introduces many wacky new game mechanics. For example, you can rebound the ball off the wall for an innovative way to pass to your teammates. You create controlled movement with dribble and by adding spin to your shots. Then there are skill moves where you perform flashy tricks like juggling. Yes, I said juggling. This allows you to keep the ball airborne and is useful for setting up volleys.

While playing Rematch, you feel like you have freedom on the pitch, which is very refreshing. No more are you shackled to the confines of a rigid pass system or as a specific player type. This game offers variety. Should the goalie leave their box, you can run in and claim the position. Admittedly, you might end up annoying your friends if you do that too often.

Even if you don't have friends, this game is particularly good at matchmaking. It takes an average of 20 seconds to be assigned a game. There have been some server issues; however, several patches to fix bugs have already been made since launch, and even more since the open beta, giving a strong indication that the developers are responding to community feedback and are constantly striving to improve playability.
