Eldritch Katamari-like In Full Bloom has me fattening up an all-devouring blob creature, and it's eerily therapeutic

Meet Entithy, the entity. Entithy is a tiny Play-Doh-like ball of eldritch cuteness with a big appetite. Their name isn't actually Entithy. In fact, I don't know if Obleak Games' gourmand has a name; I just gave them one in the hopes that we'd strike up a budding friendship, one where they won't eat me, too. You see, In Full Bloom is a Tamagotchi-coded game with Katamari trappings, in which you help young Entithy grow into a big strong orb of mindless gluttony that, judging from the cadence of its Steam demo, will eventually consume the cosmos.

In Full Bloom is thematically antithetic to the traditionally cozy games it draws inspiration from. It'll give you chills, rather than make you chill, with its visceral soundscape. It carries a Tim Burton-esque art style, with dark, moody sepias redolent of horror games like Limbo, rather than the vibrant effusions of Donut County. It's a deeply un-cozy experience. Yet, after spending a short time taste-testing it, I found myself zenfully relaxed. That probably speaks more to the current state of my mental health, but there we are.

In Full Bloom initially plops Entithy down in a sandpit, surrounded by everything an all-devouring blob baby needs to grow big and strong: bugs, bones, rotten food, and weeds - you know, all the core food groups. Here you need to click around and search for items that are the right size for Entithy to consume, before dropping them into their mouth. It's hard to miss, seeing as their entire face is constituted of cakehole, yet I somehow manage to bounce the odd meal component off of it here and there, much to their dismay.

Before long, I find a steady rhythm, doing my best mother bird impression as I get Entithy ready to take on the world… well, worlds. Before long, the camera pulls focus ever so slightly, opening up more delicacies to enrich their diet with. Entithy has two small teeth now and is even gargling away - they grow up so fast.

In Full Bloom spotlight: a small blob being fed a cabbage

I'm extremely cognizant that Entithy is lacking plant fiber, so I yoink carrots and cabbages from the nearby patch that has just come into view. I'm so focused on being a good parent that I don't even realize they now have a full set of gnashers, perfect for breaking down those concrete paving stones I'm now reaching for. The ambient music swells, the camera zooms out, and now I'm eyeing up the fence posts.

Unfortunately, the In Full Bloom demo ends before I can give Enithy a taste of the local dwellings, but I've come away from it intrigued to see just how big my precious blob will grow, and how far into the great unknown they'll go. By the end of the short ten-ish-minute teaser, Entithy was exhibiting more grunt than gargle, leaving me wondering if and when I'll hear their first words. In Full Bloom is certainly more of a virtual pet game than a puzzler, but the vibe is spot on, and I enjoyed the trance-like state it had me in, despite all of the deeply unsettling gulping noises. So, if you're looking for an uncomfy game, this could be it.

The In Full Bloom demo is available to try out on Steam here. Obleak Games has yet to set a release date, but it will arrive at some point in 2026.
