We're seeing the first tantalizing signs of green shoots appearing in the US graphics card market, with the prices of several cards dropping to their lowest levels for months. Most notably, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 and AMD Radeon RX 9070 are now available to buy for half-sensible prices, rather than the outlandish sums they've been demanding until recently.

As we found in our GeForce RTX 5070 review, this mid-range Nvidia GPU doesn't quite have enough VRAM to play some of the latest games at top settings, but it does have a decent amount of rendering power at its disposal, as well as support for the full Nvidia DLSS 4 suite, including multi frame gen. We preferred the AMD GPU in our Radeon RX 9070 review, as it comes with a full 16GB of memory, even if the 9070 XT is significantly quicker.

The latter point is largely moot, though, given that it's only available for well above its asking price right now. As such, the GeForce RTX 5070 and Radeon RX 9070 are the top choices if you're looking for a mid-range graphics card for a half-reasonable price. Right now, you can buy an MSI RTX 5070 Shadow 2X from Amazon for $593.93, putting it below the $600 mark for the first time, and saving you $40 on its launch price.

Meanwhile, you can currently pick up a Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9070 for $619.99 from Amazon, although this card is only available to Amazon Prime members. If you don't yet have a Prime membership, you can join Amazon Prime today with a free 30-day trial, which you can cancel at any time. Again, this is the cheapest price we've ever seen for this graphics card on Amazon US, with prices averaging $736.06 since launch, and peaking at $789.99 for several weeks, according to price tracker CamelCamelCamel.

While both these prices are still higher than the ostensible $549.99 MSRP of both GPUs, they're much easier to swallow than some of the outlandish prices we've seen for mid-range GPUs over the last few months. Let's hope the Radeon RX 9070 XT and GeForce RTX 5080 follow suit.
