What does the Byrdonis Egg do in Slay the Spire 2?
What does the Byrdonis Egg do? Most of the time in Slay the Spire 2, you want to pick up items that help right now, because adding bulk to your deck often also adds problems. If you have cards you cannot use against an enemy, well, that can be a recipe for disaster. There are items in STS2, however, like the Byrdonis Egg, that can pay off big time later if you know what to do.
All of the Slay the Spire 2 characters have a different playstyle, and you will want to build them in a certain way, but there are always some colorless cards that can be a huge help, regardless of who you've selected. The Byrdonis Egg, for instance, transforms into a colorless card with huge upside and seemingly no downside, other than having to wait for it, that is.
During a run, you may encounter an event called Byrdonis Nest, whereby you come across an unguarded egg in a huge bird's nest. You have the option of either eating the egg to earn seven Max HP or taking the egg with you, adding the Byrdonis Egg card to your deck. If you opt to take the egg, it will essentially act as a curse card, as it is unplayable and has no use.
Upon visiting a Rest Site, you have the option of hatching the Byrdonis Egg. Doing this removes the card from your deck and replaces it with Byrd Swoop, a zero-cost, colorless card that deals 14 damage.
Now that you know what you get from the Byrdonis quest, it's up to you to decide whether you want the Max HP or if a little work is worth adding a decent colorless card to your deck. In our opinion, the Byrd Swoop card is a worthy addition to any run. That, and we just can't bring ourselves to eat every random egg we find.
