Sometimes, there is simply nothing more appetizing than your go-to takeout order from the local spot that already knows your favorites by heart. But sometimes even a takeout favorite can get old. Enter crab rangoon garlic bread. The dish, created by food influencer Esther Lee (@biteswithesther), hit social media feeds earlier this week and is already generating buzz from followers who are antsy to give it a try.

Enjoy a Mashup of Takeout Favorites

The dish brings together elements of two popular takeout classics: crab rangoon and fresh garlic bread. The result is a comforting carb-and-dairy-forward dish that combines an iconic Chinese-American appetizer with an Italian-American staple in a mashup you won't be able to get enough of.

The dish itself is actually pretty simple to make and saves you a lot of labor when compared to recreating a traditional crab rangoon at home.

Preparations

Start by shredding up imitation crabmeat and dicing up the shredded meat before placing it in a mixing bowl. Next, add in the softened cream cheese, blended cottage cheese, chopped green onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and sugar to the bowl. Mix everything until well-combined.

Now comes the garlic bread, half of this culinary concoction. Cut your French bread, scoop some out to leave room to load up on toppings, then brush it with melted butter, garlic, and seasoning.

Combine for Ultimate Deliciousness

Place your crab rangoon filling onto the bread, top each loaf with shredded mozzarella cheese, and bake in the oven at 350° F for 10 to 15 minutes (plus one or two minutes in the broiler on high). Once it’s done, brush it with sweet chili sauce and sprinkle it with some additional chopped green onion.

The Internet Is Raving

Lee's initial video of crab rangoon garlic bread has already racked up over 3 million views. In her video, Lee called the dish “one of the best things I’ve ever eaten."

Lee’s followers appear to agree with Lee’s assessment. “THATS AN OPTION??!?!?!?” one commenter wrote on TikTok. “WELL GIVE ME SOME,” wrote another. “I fear I WILL be making this tomorrow,” added another TikTok user in the recipe video.
