Clair Obscur Expedition 33 star feels like a "total fraud" after working on it

Clair Obscur Expedition 33's Gustave voice actor says he feels like a "total fraud" for being looped in with the RPG's colossal success, because of how little he actually worked on the game. Charlie Cox, who plays Gustave in E33, recently spoke about the game at Washington State Summer Con 2025, where he heaped praise on developer Sandfall Interactive for how well it's been received.

At first, you might not recognize Cox in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, but I'd wager that you've at least seen him before. He played Tristan Thorn in Stardust, but is most well-known for taking on the mantle of Daredevil in the MCU. This means that since 2015, Cox appeared as Matt Murdock in the original Netflix run of the show, She-Hulk, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and 2025's soft reboot, Daredevil: Born Again.

With Clair Obscur quickly becoming one of our favorite RPGs of the year (and possibly all time), Cox has also found himself among some incredible performances besides his own. E33 features the likes of Baldur's Gate 3's Jennifer English, Final Fantasy 16's Ben Starr, and even Andy Serkis, just to name a few. Off the back of the game's success, however, Cox says his overall contribution makes him feel like a "total fraud" (via Charlie Cox Fansite on Twitter/X).

"I don't mean to minimize [Clair Obscur] in any way, apparently the game is awesome, I'm not a gamer, I haven't played it. My agent asked me if I wanted to go and do a voiceover, I was in the studio for four hours, maybe. People keep saying how amazing it is, and congratulations, and I feel like a total fraud. But I'm so thrilled for the company, and so thrilled that it did really well."

Ever since I saw him in Daredevil, Cox has quickly become one of my favorite actors to watch. So while his role in Expedition 33 might be smaller when compared to some of the other cast members, his contribution to the game's overall narrative can't be understated. I'd love to see him do more voice acting, too, because he felt right at home in E33.

As for what Sandfall Interactive has planned next, it sounds like the team isn't done with Expedition 33 just yet. In a recent statement, the team says it's exploring some "future improvements" to the game, which could include the likes of accessibility features or even "new content."
