Michaels Is Now Selling Fresh Flowers at 400 Stores—Here’s What Shoppers Can Expect

Michaels has been busy adding new experiences and departments over the past year; they’ve taken on beloved brands from Joann Fabrics, begun selling balloons, and even introduced a 10-minute photo framing experience. But Michaels’ latest expansion will truly cement the brand’s status as a one-stop shop for every occasion, from decorating to gifting. 

Michaels is already full of lifelike faux flowers, planters, and vases. Now, for the first time, the craft store will double as a florist; this spring, 400 U.S. locations will be introducing fresh florals. To get a sense of Michaels' floral offerings, we spoke with Stacey Shively, Chief Merchandising Officer at Michaels.

"The exact assortment can slightly vary by store, but customers can expect a curated mix of classic and seasonal flowers that make it easy to brighten a space or elevate a gathering," Shively says.

According to Shively, shoppers may find rose bunches, mixed seasonal blooms, greenery bundles, or classics like carnations; the flowers available depend on the store.

"It’s a simple way for customers to bring home fresh flowers for a dinner party, Easter brunch, or everyday decorating," says Shivley. "Our floral assortment is refreshed every two weeks and evolves with the season, so customers will see new varieties and color palettes throughout the year."

Floral Costs

There are four price points for flowers at Michaels: $8, $10, $16, and $20. You'll always have plenty of affordable options to choose from at the retailer, no matter what kind of arrangement you're looking for.

Michaels’ expansion into fresh flowers makes total sense for the retailer. After all, every Michaels store already has an enormous selection of vases, ribbons, accent signs, and wrapping paper. With the addition of fresh flowers, you can grab everything you need for an elaborate DIY arrangement in one fell swoop. 

Splice up your Michaels arrangement into spring bud vases, mix some string lights into your bouquet, or grab floral craft foam from the retailer’s aisles. You could even make a spring wreath using fresh flowers and a bare Ashland wreath form—the options are practically endless.
