How to beat Dybbuk in Mewgenics
How to beat Dybbuk in Mewgenics
How do you beat Dybbuk in Mewgenics? Getting to the Boneyard is tough enough; you have to tramp through the Sewers, then make your way through the treacherous Junkyard before you can even set foot in the diabolical resting place. Things aren't always as straightforward as they seem here in the Bonyard, and none moreso than the big boss: Dybbuk.
Each of the Mewgenics locations poses a different challenge and a different threat. The Desert, for instance, nerfs your healing and wears you down over the journey, while the Junkyard has many sharp objects, as you would imagine, and its enemies inflict bleed whenever they get a chance. The Boneyard is home to those who would take the bodies of even your best Mewgenics classes and use them for their own means.
The first thing you'll notice about this boss, and perhaps their most annoying trait, is that you cannot hit them with any attacks. It's fairly obvious why this is an issue - you generally need to deal damage to defeat an enemy.
Dybbuk will dodge out of the way of any direct attack, moving to an adjacent square. There are two ways to get around this: utilize area of effect attacks, or ensure that Dybbuk doesn't have anywhere to dodge to.
Our tried-and-true method is to back Dybbuk into a corner, using your meatier cats to act as a blocker. Look at the map whenever the fight starts and look for any nooks you can squeeze Dybbuk into - use your basic attacks to maneuver them around the battlefield. Once the boss has nowhere to dodge to, you can wail on them with everything you have.
Setting traps and creating hazardous tiles is also a reliable method. If you have a Ranger with the bramble tile ability, for instance, you can create a surface that will damage Dybbuk whenever they dodge one of your regular attacks. Damage over time effects will also pay dividends here - glass tiles are especially useful.
Dybbuk has one last trick up its sleeve for whoever it is that deals the would-be killing blow. The boss will possess whichever of your cats deals lethal damage, turning them against you. You will have to fight one of your own cats at the end of this fight, so ensure that the weakest member of your party is the one who damages Dybbuk last.
Now that you know how to handle Dybbuk, you can either get your cats home or, later on, venture even further into the Throbbing Domain. For more of the same, check out our best strategy games list for some stone-cold classics in the genre.
