The 7 Bedroom Furniture Trends Set to Take Over in 2026

Creating a bedroom that you love to wind down in isn’t about trends—unless the trends happen to be focused on creating a restful, personalized, cozy, and timeless space, which is exactly where we find ourselves in 2026. Bedroom furniture trends are shifting toward comfort, soothing color schemes, plush seating, and bespoke pieces that invite you to hit the snooze button one more time.

Andrea Sinkin, founder and owner of Andrea Sinkin Design, and Kathy Kuo, CEO and founder of Kathy Kuo Home, share the bedroom furniture trends you’ll see everywhere in 2026.

1. Four-Poster Canopy Beds

“Four-poster canopy beds are definitely having a moment in the interior design world, although I would argue that their appeal is completely timeless,” says Kuo. It’s the presence and composure that these statement pieces can bring to a bedroom that the designer says will never go out of style. She advises selecting four-poster beds with upholstered headboards and footboards to enhance the restorative space with added plushness and comfort.

2. Cozy Accent Seating

While a bedroom should foster all the elements needed for a good night’s sleep, Kuo says it should also be a place where one can recharge and escape at the end of a busy day. “To honor this reality, I like to create a distinct seating area in every bedroom I design,” she says. “In smaller rooms, it could be as simple as an upholstered pouf or ottoman that’s super cozy but doesn’t take up too much space.”

For larger spaces, Kuo recommends a chaise lounge, a set of cozy accent chairs, or a daybed to create a reading nook or a conversation area. ”I love to complement the seating area with a small side or drink table and a stylish table lamp that emits a warm, luminous glow,” she says.

3. Mixing (Not Matching) Furnishings

We’ve certainly been moving away from the lifted-from-the-showroom look, and Sinkin says that trend will continue as we look to further the cozy factor in our bedrooms with a more custom, bespoke aesthetic. “Look for coordinating nightstands and dressers, but not matched,” she advises.

4. Curved Silhouettes

It’s all about warmth and layered decor, both in our bedrooms and across our broader homes. This has led to increased demand for organic, curved, and sculptural furnishings. “Curvilinear pieces bring a sense of softness and fluidity to a room, especially in spaces overpowered by clean lines and rigid angles,” says Kuo. “I love incorporating this trend on smaller accent furniture, like a nightstand with rounded edges or a dressing table with an undulating facade.”

Sinkin says a rounded and/or arched headboard can be a whimsical touch in a guest room or kids' bedroom. “It feels fun and playful without being over-the-top kitschy.”

5. Velvet Upholstery

“Velvet is beloved for its coziness and warmth as well as its durability, a trait that’s becoming increasingly important for eco-conscious consumers seeking materials that will last,” says Kuo. Look to this material for a headboard, elegant armchair, or an end-of-bed pair of ottomans, the designer says, as it works wonderfully on just about any upholstered furnishing.

6. Mixed Textures

Texture is in, and it’s not only about the textiles you choose, but about furnishings too. “While matching furniture sets were once all the rage, today’s homes instead boast a curated assortment of pieces, and for very good reason,” says Kuo. “Choosing furniture in a mix of textures is the key to designing a bedroom that feels richly sensorial, personal, and filled with character.” The designer suggests pairing polished marble with woven rattan, reclaimed wood with antique brass, and natural stone with glass.

For soft textiles, Sinkin says mixing and matching is also key. “Think crushed velvet, fluffy mohair, nubby thick woven linen, mixed with faux fur and super soft, delicious rugs, and bringing in organic materials like raffia, sisal, and rattan,” she says. “It gives a very rich, bespoke vibe that is completely unique.”

7. Soft Organic Tones

We’re still leaning into earthy tones like sage, creams, and taupes, but Sinkin says soft pastels are certainly having a moment in bedrooms. “It is soft and beautiful without being overly feminine and can work many different ways,” she says. Look to bedding, decor such as throws, art, and small accents like vases and water decanters to bring in these of-the-moment hues.
