Minecraft style open world game Cubic Odyssey is upgrading its best part

Ever wonder what you'd get if you mashed up Minecraft and No Man's Sky? The answer is Cubic Odyssey and now this adventure is even better when shared, thanks to a new patch which gives its co-op mechanics a welcome overhaul.

If you've not played space sandbox game Cubic Odyssey, you've missed out on a treat. You've also missed out on being murdered by space pirates and chipping your way out of a tunnel because your space pickaxe ran out of power. But, as a square-headed intergalactic hero, you take the rough with the smooth and now Cubic Odyssey's new co-op update 1.0.2 makes it even easier to team up.

Previously, while Cubic Odyssey's co-op was fun, it had issues because other characters were essentially guests, rather than actually sharing its universe-saving adventure. Now, you can essentially do everything you can in your own world, no more feeling like a second class space citizen. Hurrah!

So, when you exit a session, any progress you've made towards defeating the game's otherworldly Red Darkness carries over to your own game. You can also buy ships and speeders, and lock your own chests to stop other players stealing your stuff. To be fair, video games have taught us that it's okay to walk into anyone's house and pocket everything they own.

Developer Atypical Games has also squashed a host of Cubic Odyssey's bugs, which are explained in the update's patch notes. Atypical also has plans for some major single-player updates, adding new spaceships, agriculture, animal cross-breeding and more. We're going to splice everything with a giant spider, just for the hell of it.
