This $648 MSI gaming laptop deal is outstanding, with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060

You don't often see a gaming laptop for a price this low, while still offering a decent spec, but this $648 MSI gaming laptop deal genuinely delivers the goods. Not only does it contain a proper Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 gaming GPU, but it even includes a fast 144Hz screen, 16GB of RAM, and an Intel Core i5 CPU. You'll have to be quick, though, as Walmart says there are only a few left in stock.

The laptop version of the Nvidia GPU in this MSI Thin laptop is quite unusual, as it contains the same core spec as the desktop GeForce RTX 4060, whereas you usually expect the laptop models to have a lesser spec. That's not the case here, though, with the GPU in this laptop giving you 3,072 CUDA cores and 8GB of dedicated GDDR6 VRAM, just like the desktop card - the only difference is that the laptop model has lower clock speeds. I've seen this laptop's price drop below $700 before, but I've never seen it go this cheaply before, making it one of the best gaming laptop deals I've seen.

There is one factor to note about the GPU, though, which is that this RTX 4060 only has a 45W power limit, with a maximum boost clock of 1,470MHz, while some RTX 4060 laptops allow more power to the GPU to enable it to boost to higher speeds for longer - the Acer Nitro V, for example, has a 75W RTX 4060. That's still enough power for this machine to play games at the screen's 1080p resolution, though, and well ahead of what you'd generally get from the basic integrated graphics systems you usually expect to see on laptops at this price.

It's also ideal for the 15-inch 1,920 x 1,080 screen, meaning you can run your games at the display's native resolution. If you drop the graphics settings and run less demanding titles, this laptop's 144Hz screen will also be able to keep up with your GPU's frame rate at up to 144fps, which is great for fast action.

We sometimes see budget gaming laptops slip up when it comes to the memory - even now, we still see cheaper machines coming with just 8GB of RAM, but that's not the case here, with this MSI Thin machine coming with 16GB of memory. It's DDR4, rather than DDR5, but that's fine for this spec of laptop, and 16GB is enough for gaming as well.

Even the CPU is a solid inclusion, with the Intel Core i5 13420H giving you eight cores and a top clock speed of 4.6GHz. However, only four of those cores are the performance-focused P-Cores that you want for gaming - the other four are E-Cores that are optimized for power efficiency and help out with multi-threaded software.

The only slight disappointment with the spec is the 512GB SSD, which won't give you much room to install many of today's massive games. On the plus side, the SSD is supplied on a standard PCIe 4.0 M.2 module, so you can upgrade to the best gaming SSD you can afford at a later date if you like. There's also a 2.5-inch bay free to install a SATA SSD and boost your storage cheaply.

Despite a couple of shortcomings, though, there's no denying that $648.35 is an absolutely outstanding price for this gaming laptop spec.
