2. Shakey the Robot (1966)
Developed at SRI International’s Artificial Intelligence Center between 1966 and 1972, Shakey was the first mobile robot capable of perceiving and reasoning about its surroundings. Equipped with a TV camera, range finder, and bump sensors, Shakey could perform tasks requiring planning, route-finding, and object manipulation.
