New Victoria 3 DLC finally fixes up trade, and it's exactly what we wanted

Victoria 3 is a solid grand strategy game, though its not without its problems. Created by Paradox, the studio and publisher responsible for genre staples like Age of Wonders 4, Stellaris, Imperator: Rome, Hearts of Iron 4, and the forthcoming Europa Universalis 5, Victoria 3 is as detailed and complex as its predecessor, but it's also let down by a poor trade system that's undermined the success of the game as a whole. Fortunately, that issue has finally been addressed with the launch of a new update and the Charters of Commerce DLC, both out today.

The Charters of Commerce mechanics pack is geared toward adding to and improving Victoria 3's trade system, which has been one of the otherwise strong grand strategy game's major weaknesses since launch. It adds in a number of new features, such as company charters and investment charters, and the ability to create monopolies and prestige goods. The game has also received the free Update 1.9 alongside the DLC launch, adding in features like trade charters and diplomatic treaties, and a wide array of other fixes, additions, and improvements.

All of this is geared toward fixing the biggest black mark on Victoria 3's reputation, adding in missing depth to an aspect of the game that was far too shallow before its arrival.
